Trying on Dresses In the Store and Buying them Online: Good Idea? Bad Idea?

    I voted that it depends, because it depends on where you’re purchasing the dress from. Lots of really awful knock-off sites on the internet.

    If you’re just purchasing from a reputable site like David’s Bridal, Best Bridal Prices, or Wedding Shoppe Inc, I think you’re fine. DB has a tendency to want you to order a dress that’s way too big so that you spend money on alterations, so purchasing online would be better for you.

    @stephanie1989:  If you’re definitely going through DB, you’ll be fine. It’s mainly the low quality knock off sites that you have to watch out for. 🙂

    Just keep in mind that they can usually do special orders in store that you can’t do online. I went to DB to try on dresses, and there was one that they could have ordered for me in extra long and without the train. Neither option was available online. Also remember that you can buy a sample dress for considerably cheaper in store but not online.

    If you love a dress exactly as is and want to order it brand new without any changes, I can see why you’d want to order online.
