@MsLabRat:  You can usually get a substantial savings buying at a trunk show.  I am unclear on whether your upcoming appointment is the trunk show, but I think you should go the trunk show and buy the dress if it’s what you want.  As an MOB myself, I would want to get the savings over the chance to see the dress first.  You can always take your mom to your first fitting.  Hope you’ll post photos when you decide!

@MsLabRat:  If you want! The day I bought my dress, we were truly just there to look and I have no intention of trying it on, much less buying. I told her that and the salesgirl was still so sweet and helped me try it on…and I came back later that day and bought it 🙂

Congratulations on finding such a gorgeous dress that suits you so well!  Perhaps your mom could help you shop for your accessories, or you could go with her to find her dress?  The mother/daughter buying the dress moment can be over-rated; I was blessed to be there with my daughter for both of her shopping trips, but when she made her final choice we had the MOG and MOH with us, so it was more happy and exciting than really emotional.  The best part for me was seeing her so excited, and that’s a feeling you can share with your mom throughout your entire engagement.  Good luck!
