@thunderberry:  You’re being silly 🙂 I visited 6 bridal salons in my quest to find my dress. They were all nice, but at the end of the day, I could only purchase from one. I wouldn’t stress about it!

ETA: that dress is awesome! I can’t blame you for seeking it out.

@thunderberry:  I would totally do that! We actually did this with our bridesmaid dresses – the service where we found the dress sucked so we ordered them through a local salon. Anything that makes it easier for the bride is completely ok in my books!

@thunderberry:  I did it.  I found a dress locally that I was able to try (and even in the right size) and ended up ordering it from a reputable on-line dealer.  I paid way less, it was shipped free, and they gave me $400 store credit to spend on veil/accessories/shoes.  With all that, I ended up saving about $750!

@thunderberry:  Do it. It is what it is.  They probably don’t want to deal with shipping it to you!  Unless you can get a great deal with them or they’re having a sample sale or something order it where it’s convenient for you.

Which bridal salon in Montreal carries it? I went to a TON of salons in Montreal, and a lot of them didn’t have the best customer service, so if it’s one of those salons I can hekp you feel better for not ordering from them! Haha!

Everyone should be nice to you while you’re shopping around for an expensive item!
It’s only once they get your money that you see their true colors. 🙂
(which, hopefully, are nice colors haha)

I agree- check online! But if you want to order from your local salon, then DO IT!
Because who wants to dela with lengthy trips for a dress or alterations when they’ve got other, BETTER things to do? 🙂

I should also mention that I ended up buying my dress at an amazing salon in Montreal, but I don’t live there either. They’re just going to ship the dress to me, so it’s not really too big of a deal other than the fact I have to pay for shipping.

I found my dress while shopping with my mom in Ohio but ordered it from a store in DC. The DC store actually gave me a much lower price for it (surprisingly!). I had some initial guilt since the owner of the Ohio shop was really helpful but I imagine this happens quiet often.

@thunderberry:   Well, I found my dress at one store and ended up buying it at another.  The first store didn’t allow photos and I resolved not tobuy from a store with that policy.  This dress will be very photographed and I wanted to know how it looked in photos!

Also – if the store where you are buying the dress does alterations – they will be closer to you and it will be easier ….

I went to only one store. And actually the lady in that store made me take my final decision to order a custom made dress: I told her that it is my first time dress shopping, and still… After giving me 5 dresses to try on she was quite pushy in having me coming back for a purchase! I find it rediculous. Don’t feel guilty. They don’t work for free, they are paid for letting you try the dresses, so it’s not that you ‘exploit’ them. and you, as a customer, are free to choose the most convenient option!
