@lucyv2003:  I think this might also depend on where you live now, if you want to stay as close as possible to realitives, and how “south” do you want? Where do you think YOU will fit? What types of views do you hold, do you think that state would support your views?

I live in NC. Personally, I can see Chapel Hill being a nice place to live! It’s really a college town though since it’s home to UNC! It is a very beautiful town though! Very liberal!

Charlottesville is rural IMO, but it has enough around it (shops, schools, etc)! From being there, it seems very nice. Also where Dave Matthews is from! :p

Nashville and Dallas are very southern!!! I love Nashville, it has a lot of fun to offer! My BIL lives in Dallas. He hates it. He just believes that everything in Texas is about being in Texas. Plus, it’s hot. I can see it being awesome though!

Sadly, I know nothing on St. Louis!

I hope any of this helps in such a big decision! Good luck!

@lucyv2003:  Bring from Texas, I can tell you do not move to Dallas…not a fan at all. Seems like everyone that lives there thinks they are better than you.

I have family that live in St. Louis and it seems pretty great! Chapel Hill looks really pretty too. Those are really the only places on the list that seem very appealing. I am from the midwest though and couldn’t see my self living in Texas or someplace really southern so I am pretty biased.

Dallas would probably be the last place I would choose to live (from this list) because it can get soooo hot in the summer. It’s not a bad place, I’m just talking weather-wise. I love NC and VA but out of all these I would choose Nashville. I don’t know where you are now, but I love Tennessee. It’s just gorgeous. And it’s far enough inland that you don’t really have to worry about hurricanes, south enough to have slightly milder winters, east enough to have fireflies, etc.

I picked Charlottesville, because Virginia seems about to legalize same-sex marriage.

We just moved near Chapel Hill and it’s a really nice place to live! It’s basically connected to Durham and Raleigh, so between the cities, there is everything you could want. It’s highly educated, liberal, inexpensive, convenient, friendly, and the weather isn’t bad. There are a lot of tech/biological companies here too, so if you work in those fields that would be a plus. It’s no SoCal (where I’m from), but we like it! I’ve driven through St. Louis and would not live there, nor would I live anywhere in Texas aside from Austin. Can’t speak for Nasvhille or Charlottesville. Good luck!

Charlottesville and Chapel Hill are both college towns (UVA and UNC/Duke, respectively)with similar weather of hot humid summers and cold winters with snow and ice but not minnesota level snow and cold. CH has bigger metro area and lots of technology/research jobs And lots of good restaurants!

CH, Cville and Nashville all have nurse-midwives, an excellent option for your health care.

i would pick Nashville. Big happening area even without the UniversitIes.

I obviously know nothing about MO or TX

I’ve lived by STL my entire life, and I wouldn’t recommend it. East St. Louis is one of the most dangerous places in America. I love STL for the sports, etc but I would never walk around there after dark. And the weather sucks lol

@lucyv2003:  I’d vote for Nashville! Great cost of living, good combination of city and natural beauty, preppie have southern hospitality. 🙂
