@mgk0813:  Do you have a carat min/max size? Do you like colored stones, or do you want to stick with a white stone?

I’m actually a fan of using an eternity band as an engagement ring, especially if you are wanting to dance to your own beat. You can also get a lot of bang for your buck stone wise. This one is $350:

Congrats on getting engaged BTW!

Personally, if I had a budget of $800 I would go for a gemstone ring first. I get that you like “different” so here are a few that I found online at Zales:

@mgk0813:  If you are willing to go with sapphire, your possibilities are endless! They come in every color! I love Etsy. I could window shop there all day.

@mgk0813:  Definately take the hardness of the stone into consideration. I was going to get a morganite and rose gold wedding band, but I didn’t because the stone won’t hold up to how much I wash my hands. If you are okay with taking it off for that kind of stuff at home though, it might work for you.

That ring is very pretty! My ring is a .25 carat diamond. The size really works for me and my life. I have very small hands though too :Have you tried on any rings to see what size stone works? I know you said that you were going to end up gifting the rings to your kids, have you thought about using their birth stones?

EDIT: I just saw your additional post… priginal ering is an opal. I wear it around my neck so I don’t ruin it….one of my most favorite stones by far!

I also love the idea of vintage sets, which you can get for a steal sometimes. I’m really kinda into this one on etsy:

@mgk0813:  congrats on your engagement and welcome to the hive.

the possibilities are endless.  i would suggest going to a few different jewellery stores to see what they have in your price range and to physically try on different styles, stones and sizes.  this will help you decide what your really like and don’t like on your finger and it will help you narrow down your search.

good luck and let us know what you find.
