    I charted.  It definitely takes a month or so of consistent charting to get it nailed down.  Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility?  I also downloaded the free version of FertilityFriend app which helped me pinpoint my ovulation days.  

    I came off BCP about 8 months before TTC to let my body regulate.  I did some charting a couple months before TTC to get the hang of it.  After all that prep, we ended up being successful our first month actually trying.

    @JenniferD:  I used to have irregular cycles (like really really long, sometimes missing entire periods) but after it wasn’t as bad.  I did discover that I have a short-ish luteal phase, so I worried a bit about whether or not implantation would be able to occur before starting AF.  It was helpful to see that I ovulate later in my cycle than ‘average’ so we timed our BD better.  I don’t think I was irregular exactly, but my cycles are a little longer with the late ovulating.
