Starting to think about when I want to get off the Pill. I know that everyone is different and you can’t really plan when it’ll happen, but I wanted to get an idea of how quickly after getting off the Pill that others got a BFP. I’ve heard it is a myth that it takes months to get your cycle back to normal to conceive. How long did it take you?

Also wondering. I’m planning to stop taking the pill around Feb-March and start TTC in August

I went off the pill in April, got a BFP at the very end of July. Sadly, that need in a MC, but I got another BFP the end of novemeber. So 4 months both times for me.
and it is certainly NOT a myth that it takes ages for your cycle to regulate after the pill. For many people it takes a very long time – just check out the 6+ and 12+ TTC boards. It all rrally depends in the person.

I got pregnant the first month (and I was on BCP for 16 years straight). So I wouldn’t go off unless you’re ready to be pregnant! Or go off but use other protection if you’re not ready. It could happen right away or it could take your body longer to regulate, you won’t know until you go off.
BTW, I went off the pill because I had been on it forever and thought my cycles would be completely wacky (they were before BCP) and that it would take forever to regulate and I wondered if I could even get pregnant (that is how terrible my pre-BCP cycles were). Surprise! 🙂

I agree with the poster above to not go off BC unless you’re ready to be pregnant. I got pregnant 2 months after i went off after being on the pill for about 10 years. I also heard it takes months to regulate your cycle, which is why i went off after my wedding thinking it would take at least 6mo but surprise! so glad i didn’t go off bc before the wedding like my husband suggested.

I posted a similar thread to this a little while ago. I have decided based on the responses I got to come off BCP earlier than TTC plan and I have started charting to get to know my cycles and to try and prevent pregnancy naturally for the first cycle or two.

I have been off the pill for 12 months this week. Still no BFP.

RedWine13: everyone always told me I could conceive immediately after coming off the pill. Well I am on CD 57 after coming off the pill in July. So I suppose I am not one of those people 🙁

One of my best friends went off the pill in April, just before her wedding, after having been on it for almost 15 years. She got pregnant (age 33) on cycle 3. 🙂

RedWine13: I stopped taking BCP April 2014 and im still not pregnant… Me & my husband BD every other day and still didn’t get pregnant.. I guess it just depends. I just recently bought an ovulation test to see when I do ovulate and am only now temping. I think if your planning TTC soon I would get off the pills now.

I went off BCP in Feb 2014. My first cycle was 114 days, my 2nd was 43 days and I’m on CD26 of my third with no ovulation in sight. I’m in the camp of getting off BCP much longer before you want to TTC & use other forms of protection. I thought 9 months off would be enough to regulate my cycle….I’m going on month 7 and I’m doubtful anything will change anytime soon. Its very stressful to be irregular, I can’t imagine being irregular while TTC.

RedWine13: I was on the pill for 10 years, and when i came off the pill my cycle pretty much regulated right away, but it still took me 6 mos to get my BFP.

Thanks for all the experience sharing! I was hoping to attempt to plan around my work schedule, but I’m starting to get over that idea!
