Does anyone else have early menopause that runs in their family? Has it changed your TTC plans?
I kind of knew that it ran in my family but I just didn’t know exactly how early it was. My mom said her menopause started in her late 30s and ended when she was 42. My husband is/was wanting to wait a few years before TTC but now I’m not so sure. I’m almost 27 and we both want a few children.

Well late 30s still gets you 10-ish years, right? 🙂
We don’t have a history of early menopause, but we do have a history of endometriosis (which, yay me, I do have) and some other things. My mom had a full hysterectomy at age…37? I think? So I feel you on the “clock is sorta ticking here guys” front.
However, we’ve decided to put off TTC for a few more years. We’re also okay 100% with the alternative to not having bio kids, which for us is adoption. Your comfort level with not making a traditional family is something to consider and discuss with your SO though. 🙂

@JCar: we do! my mom started going through menopause at 32ish and her periods stopped when she was 34. my husband and i are almost 30 and have decided to start TTC sooner rather than later because of this. our plans most definitely changed once we really started to think about the reality of possibly not being able to have children if we don’t get crackin’ soon. good luck to you on your journey!
