So a couple months ago we went off b/c and while we haven’t been charting we have been just seeing what happens naturally.
I’ve come down with a really nasty cold and have been taking some cold meds (Benilyn) & pain killers prior (Advil & Aleeve).
When my husband saw me taking the cold meds at dinner, his comment was “What happens if you currently ARE pregnant and taking those..?”
I hate to admit, it hadn’t even crossed my mind. Now I’m worried- should I be trying to suffer through this bug without meds just in case? Or am I just being paranoid and over thinking it?

Where are you at in your cycle? My general thought is that if you don’t know that you are pregnant, meaning if it wouldn’t show up on a test yet you are safe. I think I’ve seen several places that say you don’t share a blood supply with the baby until 6 weeks. There is no reason for you to be miserable and feeling sick if you don’t have to be.

Personally, I was in the drink til it’s pink club and I would apply the same rule to medication.

@Peoniesplease: If you are worried, only take medications that are rated category B. Things like Benadryl to help sleep, Tylenol/Acetominophen for pain, Mucinex to help clear mucus, etc. I take NyQuil even if I’m in my TWW, also. Most ingredient are rated B but there’s one that’s C, I think it’s Dextromethorphan? But really, the chances are so slim that it would hurt a growing fetus.

Also, where are you in your cycle? If you are in your TWW and know that you are past O, I’d be more worried, but still not very worried.

my DD was a surprise and I took dayquil right before I found out (i was around 7 weeks — irregular period so i found out late) shes just fine 🙂
I personally would take a fever reducer but maybe not the cold meds.
