I’d love to hear whether you took the pregnancy test by yourself and told your husband/significant other later, or with your husband/SO waiting nearby.
Also, if you took it by yourself, how quickly did you tell your husband that it was positive, and how did you tell him the news??
[A friend of a friend said that she wasn’t trying to conceive, and found out she was pregnant… she was in so much shock it took her a few DAYS to tell her husband!]

I took a test and thought it probably wouldnt be positive…well it was and i had been working a while on a little gift to give my husband to tell him we were expecting….i gave him the gift, he said WOW…are you joking? LOL. I told him about 3 minutes after i go the positive.

not TTC yet (close!), but i’ve asked Fiance which he would want me to do. he said he would want to know if i was going to test & find out with me. i was kind of disappointed, because i think it would be fun to come up with some cool way to tell him, but now i feel like since he told me that, it’s only fair that i respect his wishes.

I told him I wanted to buy tests and test on that night. Went and bought a test, and tested while he was in bed, reading. Our bathroom is adjacent to our bedroom, so he heard me laugh when I saw the result. I showed him immediately.

Although we aren’t TTC yet, I plan to test without my husband for two reasons. First, he travels for work every week and I don’t want to have to sit around for days when I could test and know just because he won’t be home for the next 4 days. Second, I want to come up with a fun way to tell him once we do get pregnant and I can’t really do that if he’s right outside the bathroom as I test.

My husband was on the other side of the state when I took the first test. I wasn’t sure what to do so I just texted him, “I think you’d better come home…” He was at a hockey game and tried to call me back but he couldn’t hear anything but the word “pregnant” and left right away lol.

I had taken a test a few days earlier that came out negative, but still hadn’t gotten my period, so my husband basically begged me to take another one. So he was in the bedroom as I took the test. I don’t think I would have wanted to do it without him because I was so excited I couldn’t wait to share it with him!

My husband wasn’t going to be home until a few hours later and I had already tested a few times but still hadn’t gotten my period and just felt so tired. I was starting to feel silly testing since it was my third time and the other two were negative so I kinda wanted to do it without him there in case it was negative again, I could just feel silly for testing so much on my own. But it was positive and I tried to think of a way to tell him but instead by the time he came home had convinced myself it was negative so instead just showed him the test and said ‘do you think that’s a line or not?’, it was definately a line but still I tested when he was home the next morning and a few mornings after that, and that little line just kept getting darker, so after that we were convinced.

@LoveHappy: We are going to TTC next year but I know that I will test alone because I want to surprise him and tell him in a cute way…. but it will be the same day that I find out…. I know me and I couldn’t keep it in for days…. I would just burst from excitement, lol….

We tried for so long… I didn’t need both of us to get disappointed every time I tested (usually just if I felt like having a cocktail or something, I tried to not waste too many tests). So I ended up just telling him later most of the time.

We were TTC. He was still in bed, but I wanted to do the first morning…we actually both went back to sleep if you can believe it!

haha, I took the test at night and ran into the bedroom waving the stick in his face about 60 seconds later. I don’t think I said anything I just waited for him to figure out what the results meant!!!

I usually tell him when I’m going to test and then he asks me how it went later. It’s not as fun when there’s lots of negatives! It would be even more sad/pressure-filled if he was with me.

Ohmigosh, yes, my husband was right in the next room – I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, no matter the result!
I have serious respect for women who can test alone and tell their husbands later. It was like my whole life changed the second I saw that plus sign, it was all over my face, I don’t know how I could have kept it from him!
