I didn’t intentionally try for a girl, but my timing produced one. DH and I had sex only once, 5 days before ovulation and I had a girl. Funny enough, there hasn’t been a girl conceived in DH”s family in 87 years!

Some people don’t believe in the Shettles Method, but I think it does have some truth. I mean, it’s not going to guarentee one gender or the other…just increase your chances!

@minniemluv:  I totally know what you mean 🙂 The next time around, we’ll try for a boy, but if we had another girl, we’d be just as happy! All you can do is try and be happy with what you get!

A meta-analysis of studies of the shettles method in The Impatient Woman’s Guide to Getting Pregnant (think that’s the right name of the book) suggested that actually the results were either the same as chance (50 per cent) or maybe even a bit the other way. I guess there’s no harm trying to use it if you’re not in a rush to get pregnant, but you also risk it taking longer if you cut out some of your fertile days each month.

For what it’s worth, we are pregnant with a girl, and she was conceived either two days before O or the day of O.

DH is terrified to have girls so I thought for fun, we would try some of the things that would “help” get us a boy. We weren’t taking anything too seriously because we weren’t even trying very hard to get pregnant. I wasn’t temping but I was trying to track my symptoms. I thought I was having O pain so I told the hubby let’s go for it. We are now pregnant with a boy. =)

We’re trying and only planning on one – I want a girl, but I’d be happy either way. I have a guy-dominant family, and any daughter I have would be the first one born on my side since..well, me, nearly 30 years ago.
