Yes, definitely prenatals. I would also recommend charting and opks (ovulation prediction kits) to start. With the OPKs you should probably start them your first month three days after the last day of AF (aunt flow, aka your period). OPKs are only positive once the test line is as dark as or darker than the contol line…sometimes this can be a little difficult to determine so dont be afraid to share a pic of your opk on here if you’re unsure. Also, after coming off birth control, it might take a few months for your cycles to regulate, so dont freak out if your cycle changes any. I also recommend picking up a copy of TCOYF, we all think we know everything there is to know about getting pregnant until you read that book! 🙂 Also keep in mind that your chances, even if everything is perfect are only 20% each month, so dont get discouraged if it doesnt happen right away. Sometimes it takes even the healthiest of couples uo to six months to conceive, fingers crossed it wont take you that long. Good luck and happy BD’ing (baby dancing, aka making babies)!

  1. fertilityfriend.com will teach you how to chart.  you should start charting your first cycle off of the pill
  2. take you BBT every morning and monitor your CM
  3. if your CM isn’t great, take mucinex and drink a glass of grapefruit juice every day  (this worked for me…  I conceived the month that I did these things)

I don’t think your chances of conceiving the cycle after you go off the pill are very good.  But I conceived the 3rd cycle off of the pill.

@idaho1745:  The advice above is great. Make sure that either your prenatal vitamin has 1mg (1000mcg) of folic acid or you take a folic acid supplement in addition to the prenatal. Folic acid helps to minimize chances of neural defects. If you’re planning to chart then remember that you need to take you temp at the same time every morning before you get out of bed or anything and it has to be after 3-4 hours of unbroken sleep. You have to have just woken up too or else your temp will have gone up. Try to set your alarm for before you’d ever have to wake up and then as soon as it goes off roll over and pop that therm in. Then you can go back to sleep and wake up for the day later. Drinking alcohol the day before can raise your temperature too. It’s also a good idea to start cutting back on caffeine, alcohol, smoking, and whatever other vices you might have now so that it’s not as difficult when you get KU. If you have any questions along the way we’ll all be here to help you! The Charters thread is great for charting questions and the POAS thread is great when you’re in your TWW. And they’re all great all of the time. I’m not sure if anyone has told you yet either, but it can sometimes take awhile for you to ovulate your first cycle off BC and your LP (luteal phase – the length of time after O) will probably be shorter than it actually is. Things should work themselves out in a few cycles though and charting is really helpful when you’re not sure how your body is adjusting and what it’s up to.

And remember to have fun! Leave the worrying for after you’ce tried a few cycles.

I didn’t really bother to do any of the charting or anything like that…all that I did was count 15 days from the end of my period, give hubby the green light to have at it for the next week and a half or so, and see what happens every month.  🙂  If I can remember correctly we started TTC in like, January-ish and I was prego in July.  Relax and have fun!!

Sorry, this doesn’t really answer your question, but do you really want to stop the pill 4 days before your wedding? That pretty much guarantees you will have your period on your wedding day (and night)!!

@idaho1745:  ohh you’ll stop the placebo/sugar pills 4 days before your wedding. I thought you meant stopping active BCP! You are right!

Some ladies would tell you they started getting acne and moodier once off the pill due to the change in hormones. Something to think consider! I’m waiting til after the honeymoon to go off BCP because I don’t want to break out in pimples or back-acne at the wedding or on the honeymoon!

I agree w/PP and also wanted to add that you should cut down on the caffeine. A medical professional that specializes in fertility/infertility issues told me that she recommends dialing back the caffeine when TTC. I think the What to Expect book has caffeine limit recommendations.
