Don’t fret too much first cycle off the pill. Your body probably needs time to regulate. It is possible you did not/will not ovulate this cycle. Nothing wrong with that. Let your body take some time to sort itself out. The women on these boards are very helpful. I strongly recommend you read this thread. It gives a lot of good info for first time TTC.

I’m assuming you O’d around day 17, and you’re now firmly in the TWW!

How long are your cycles usually? Do you know?

@confusedbridehere:  tww is the two week window after you ovulate but before you can test for pregnancy by poas (peeing on a stick) . As @CocoLoco523:  said you might not have ovulated. You might have produced more luetinizing hormoney gearing up to ovulate but then didn’t. You might have ovulated but maybe we’re drinking too much water and your urine was diluted? Your body def needs time to adjust. Are you temping? Then you’d know for sure if you ovulated.

Hard to say… I just stopped bcps on Oct 1st to begin ttc. I still haven’t had a period and am not pregnant. The first couple of weeks I was peeing on OPK sticks and analyzing every twinge and sensation in my body. It made me nuts. Now I am temping and I can clearly see that nothing is going on in my cycle yet, (no ovulation). Watching your chart is very reassuring. I would totally recommend it. I thought, “Oh I’m so healthy, my cycles will snap right back to normal”, but alas they haven’t yet. I would definitely recommend you check out the fertility friend site. Who knows though, you could get lucky and get pregnant right away : )

@confusedbridehere:  TWW is the two week wait, from ovulation to when you expect your period and thus can take a pregnancy test. Here is a link to common abbreviations on the bee. Scroll down to the baby related ones. It’ll help you immensely. 🙂 I was soooo confused when I first joined.

I was on the pill for over 10 years, and while I didnt get pregnant the first cycle off the pill, we did get pregnant on the second cycle!….with twins. If you have been on the pill for awhile your body is probably just trying to adjust to not being on it.

I stoped the pill in July and my cycles have been 38-41 days. I didn’t ovulate until approx CD 26 my first cycle off the pill. I know it’s hard but patience is key! If you’re charting you will be able to see when you actually ovulate vs. just tracking a possible ovulation via OPKs. Some ladies don’t get a period for months and months after coming off the pill especially if you’ve been on it for awhile. So sorry you’re frustrated.. it’s a trying process!

I went off the pill in July (after being on it 16 years) and I got pregnant the first cycle.  Based on how far along I am, I probably conceived a few weeks off the pill after my last period (making me assume it was a normal length cycle).  I did not temp or use OPKs so no help there.  I had very abnormal cycles before being on BCP (at 13 though FWIW) so I was surprised I had a seemingly normal cycle!

I did bleed like a normal (light) period after becoming pregnant though, right on time with when I should have gotten my period, which is somewhat unusual.  They told me your body can do odd things after coming off BCP because it’s not used to doing things on its own.  So I wouldn’t worry yet, I assume it is just regulating itself.

@confusedbridehere:  I recently decided to go off the pill, 4 months ago. Let me tell you.. your body does some funky stuff that first cycle off of it! For me, I decided not to take the week of sugar pills at the end of my final pack, but I never got a period. Then like two weeks later, I had one speck of spotting. Like one drop. I continued charting my temps and CM, and when I looked back on the chart, if I had counted the day of spotting as my period for that cycle, then the rest of my cycle was completely consistent with the rest of my later cycles, where I o’d on CD14 and had a 12 day LP. But meanwhile.. I was freaking out that I was pregnant! I guess when you go off the pill, your body mimics being pregnant, because it doesn’t have the pill’s surge of hormones anymore. So… hang in there, try not to symptom spot too much, and just give your body a chance. For me, it just needed two weeks to “reset”.

FWIW, I don’t think that OPK looks very close to positive, so it’s very likely that your body was being a post-pill spazz. I would keep temping and charting and taking OPK’s… you’ll probably get a true positive soon. Or I could be completely wrong haha 🙂

@confusedbridehere:  I feel your pain. I’m also in my first cycle off BCP and I was convinced I ovulated based on a significantly darker OPK than yours. Then it got lighter, and darker, and lighter, and then yesterday it was very dark. I had to double check the packaging to be sure which one was the test and which one was the control line.  Today is CD26. So it can happen that later in your cycle, especially I think the first cycle off BCP. For me the first sign was tons of EWCM.

So, expect some variation in the darkness of the lines. Just because it’s darker doesn’t mean it’s heading towards a positive.

Good luck!

@confusedbridehere:  I went off birth control pills on June 12th – didnt get a period until the end of July.  I still have long cycles now.  My SIL didnt get a period for over 3 months after stopping birth control.
