TTC – wait until after vacation with friends?

I would try and see what happens- if you delay for every trip, wedding, event, etc no one would ever TTC.  I ended up being 6 weeks pregnant on a big reunion trip with old friends.  It sucked not to get to drink, and I was definitely more tired than I would normally be, but I had a good time.  I did tell them, but asked them to keep it within this circle (they did). It was fun to get to tell them in person- as I don’t get to see them often enough to wait and still get the opportunity.

I would just wait, it’s not like it’s a 6 month difference it’s a month or two. We are planning on TTC next year and my family is doing a big trip to Hawaii in June. We’re going to wait until after the trip to Hawaii to start.

Even if it does take you awhile to get pregnant starting in September or October rather than August would be like the difference between getting pregnant in February instead of January. Like, I just don’t see how it would be some big thing to wait.

I’d TTC if you want to.  You could always tell that group of friends (about the potential pregnancy) and swear them to secrecy if you had to tell them.  If you are in the TWW, then i’d have a few drinks but just not overdo it.

Normally I wouldn’t recommend waiting to TTC (especially since it took me 9 months to get a positive.)  If you wait for the perfect time, it’ll never happen because something always comes up.  BUT, since it’s a wait of just a month or two, I don’t think it makes a huge difference to hold off until after your vacation.  And if you do go ahead and TTC, don’t stress about a few drinks during the TWW.  Have a good time and enjoy your trips!

As far as telling people, we told our parents and siblings about 6-8 weeks in but my best friend knew the minute I peed on the stick.  I’ve since told some other good friends and my work but I still haven’t announced publicly (via FB) and I’m approaching 20 weeks.

afenimore11 :  I’m not sure if others have mentioned this already, but something else to consider is the possibility of feeling crappy during your first trimester. A lot of the typical pregnancy symptoms, like fatigue and nausea happen during the beginning of pregnancy and you may not want to spend your vacation feeling sick.

afenimore11 :  I totally get the impatience… Maybe it’s time to just go for it!

afenimore11 :  I didn’t really get a lot of morning sickness and when I did, it was never to the point of throwing up. On the other hand, a friend of mine lost 10 pounds during the first trimester because she was so sick. A lot of women take after their moms (like me), so you could ask her what her pregnancies were like.
