I just saw this today in an email I got from a werdding website, TTD photoshoots. (Trash the Dress)
I think it’s a fun idea, and some of the pictures would be pretty awesome. Maybe like the layin on a beach or a pool or something. I wouldn’t want to do something too extreme, like I read some brides will be photographed changing tires in their dress!
My dress wasn’t very expensive, and I don’t really have room to store it in our current tiny rental place. (which we will be at for a little while after the wedding)
What are thoughts on this? Would you do a TTD photoshoot after the wedding?

I would probably donate the dress to somebody low-income who could really use a break.

i personally would! i think its very artistic and empowering and you dont have to really TRASH the dress to get the good pictures you can wear it on a pool or go on the beach that sort of thing. or you could always buy a dress off ebay for like $50 and use that for the pictures

Yeah, I really want to donate mine, too! I just can’t see rolling in the dirt in my beautiful dress…I would rather see someone else be able to use it instead. I do have to admit, some of the trash the dress sessions do look really fun, I just can’t see myself doing it…

I did a TTD shoot – Mostly because my wedding photographer is a good friend of mine and wanted to add to her portfolio – i really couldnt bear the thought of ruining my dress so i was on the search for just a plain white dress i could wear that wouldnt be see through if it got wet – while looking around my sister offered up her wedding dress 🙂 she got married in 2001 and later divorced so she had no attachment to the dress. feel free to take a look at my TTD post be sure to scroll all the way down. it was tons of fun

@totheislnds: Looking forward to checking it out once I am home from work!
Donating the dress also sounds like a great idea, helping someone who otherwise couldn’t afford something would def make one feel good 🙂

I would, why not? My dress was only $280 and I’m not attached to it. It’s just a dress. I’ll probably end up donating or selling it when I’m done with it, though.

I SOOO wanted to but after the wedding I wasn’t able to get back into it and now I’m preggers….. maybe after the baby?.. lol
I wanted to do some painting and maybe a carnival…. just pretty much a bunch of stuff that you wouldn’t “normally” do in a wedding dress! lol
I’ve heard that the only things you can’t really get out of a dress is oil & algae.

I’m actually doing a “Rock The Dress” session hopefully in Oct. I LOVE my dress so it gives me another chance to wear her and take some fun spontanteous photos w/ my Darling Husband. I won’t mind sitting on the ground or running on the beach and getting wet. I’m pretty excited about it.
