My Fiance has a tungsten carbide wedding ring. I want to engrave it before the wedding. From what I’ve read, traditional engraving doesn’t work with tungsten because the metal is so hard. You can send it off to laser engrave it, but the websites that offer this seem sketchy to me.
Has anyone engraved tungsten carbide? Did you etch it, or laser it? Did you use an online site? Was it a good experience??

My Fiance and I went to our jeweler over the weekend and brought our bands in to be engraved. While my 14K white gold ring is sent to Boston to be engraved, my FI’s tungsten carbide ring is being sent by the jeweler to a company they use that does the laser engraving. His will take about a month to get back while mine will take about a week. I’m not sure which company they use for the laser engraving (I probably should’ve asked). Can you go to a local jeweler or call them and ask how they handle laser engraving or etching of tungsten carbide rings?

I looked a bunch of jewelry stores and engravers in the phone book. I had to go 3 hours away to get it done, but I evntually found someone who could do it. I just e-mailed a TON of businesses, sent them the info for the ring (width of the band, material, etc) and what not.
