Has anyone been to Cirali, Turkey?

We've been looking into honeymooning there and it looks amazing! Does anyone have any real life experience to report? :)

I've been to Turkey several times, but never to that particular village.  The place we usually go when we're not in Istanbul is a bit further north, on the Bodrum peninsula, and it's AMAZING so I bet Cirali would be too!  Now that I know about it, I think I'll make DH take me there next time we're in Turkey!  He probably knows it because he's been to Antalya many times, so I'll ask him about it and if he says anything relevant, I'll let you know.

I'd guess, since there are tourist attractions nearby, that many of the restaurateurs and shopkeepers will speak some English, which is essential if you don't speak Turkish...it's a very tricky language to learn.  Don't let that stop you, though.  The south of Turkey is so incredibly beautiful, and even though getting there can be ridiculously expensive (although there are good deals to be had, if you catch them) it's very affordable once you're there.

I've heard Turkey is absolutely GORGEOUS! It's been written up in Conde Nast Traveler alot recently.

My fiance and I went on a 2-week trip to Turkey in 2007 and loved it. We stopped in Cirali for lunch on our way to Antalya. It's very pretty.

I don't know that I'd go to Turkey for a beach-type vacation. There are really lovely beaches, but there is so much more to see there - especially amazing ruins. So if you are interested in history, Turkey is a great choice. We had considered Greece, but we're not beach-sitting people so we thought Turkey would be a better choice.

Although I didn't go there, I've heard great things about Bodrum and the beaches in that area. We did Kas on the Mediterranean and then onto Antalya for a night before heading to Konya and Cappadoccia. OMG, Cappadoccia was AMAZING. Like nowhere I've ever been before. We did a hot air balloon ride that was a highlight of the trip. And Istanbul is fantastic, as is Ephesus.

There is a great site if you plan to go to Turkey. turkeytravelplanner.com. The owner of the site wrote a few of the Lonely Planet guides to Turkey so he is an expert. He actually helped me plan my intinerary and I had no regrets.

Turkey is beautiful and has a diverse array of travel possibilities - we're getting married in Izmir actually :)  I've never been to cirali, but I've been to marmaris, bodrum, side, kapadokya, cesme, and of course Istanbul.  If you're interested in a beachy-type honeymoon I would highly recommend a "blue voyage" - a trip on a yacht (not a fancy one, but still cool!) around the marmaris area, visiting small islands and beaches not accessible by land.  It's gorgeous.  Bodrum and Cesme are fun party-towns, also very beautiful with plenty of luxurious resorts.  Istanbul is romantic in a more urban way, and Kapadokya is amazing - we stayed in a cave-hotel there and went hiking through villages, it was really cool.  I've brought a few American friends along with me a couple of times - they fell in love with the country and can't wait to come back for our wedding! Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Can anyone tell me where to start looking for decently priced flights? Everything I find is amazingly expensive. Is it worthwhile to get a travel agent?
