Not a fan of the turkey, but I'll dig into the mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans, etc. MMMMM!
I only like dark meat turkey. Green bean casserole and ham, yum yum!
My dad always makes fried turkey. I could seriously eat it every single day it is so unbelievably good.
The sides! Especially green bean casserole and mashed potatoes. I don't eat meat, so turkey isn't really in the running for me :P
@NicLoop - ooh, fried turkey sounds amazing. One of these years I've got to try some..
This year, the turkey because it will be deep fried! Usually I would say the sides - mashed potatos and green bean casserole!
Sides sides sides! I don't eat meat, so I'm allllllll over the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and roast veggies!
This is gonna sound gross, but gravy. NOT turkey or potatoes with gravy...just the gravy. The main dishes are secondary...I could eat grandma's gravy like soup!
I know you wanna get sick now....lol
the sides :) I'm not much of a turkey person unless it has lots of gravy lol I loooove my grandma's green beans (I think they're considered southern style- has bacon, vinegar etc) but hubby HATES them and they're waaaaaay too unhealthy to eat them all by myself, so I'm using some other recipe. I'd do regular green bean casserole, but our oven is out so that also rules out broccoli rice and cheese casserole :( Thanksgiving will be slightly disappointing without an oven lol
One side in particular - Aunt Phyllis Jell-O!! Basically orange jell-o with mini marshmellows, cream cheese, dream whip and pinapple all blended together and set again. It's a sweet lovers dream! I'm making two batches, just so my brothers and I can all take home a big container full. I love it. PM me if you want the recipe. More people need to eat Aunt Phyllis Jell-O!
I am all about the sides. I could actually totally skip the turkey if it wasn't such a great vehicle for gravy.
Sides!
The one thing I always request is macaroni salad. My mom and FMIL make it sooo good (mix of macaroni, tuna fish, and onions)
And yucca with onions...mmmmmmmm
I am a carb addict so I'm totally in it for the mashed potatoes, rolls, and sweets. :)
ALL OF IT. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, buttered rolls, pumpkin pie...oooohhhhhh, I love Thanksgiving SO MUCH!!!!
I look forward to pumpkin pie :) with copious amounts of whipped topping
We have turkey and ham and all the fixins'-- looking forward to it ALL! :) My fave is probably my FMIL's candied yams-- MMMMM... I gotta get that recipe from her!
Mashed potatoes and gravy and dressing and pie. OK. I am looking forward to it all this year since I'm cooking it all! I've already discovered that I like homemade cranberry sauce. I don't know why anybody bothers with that stuff in the can! It shouldn't be called the same thing.
@arizona- oh my gosh! homemade cranberry is sooooo good. my uncle specializes in it hehe
@honeybear. I know. I had no idea it would be so good. It was super easy. OJ and sugar, cranberries, and Grand Marnier! Yum! It only took me 20 min.
Well.. Canada's Thanksgiving has come & gone- so I'm jealous of all of you who get to delight in a delicious Thanksgiving meal tomorrow!
SIDES! All. the. way. I love my carbs. Mmm :)
The sides. I actually don't enjoy turkey all that much - leftover turkey used up in more creative ways, yes, but not plain old turkey. I'm all about mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing. Jealous of you Americans getting to eat all your delicious Thanksgiving food this weekend! In Canada ours has already come and gone.
Yeah, I look forward to it all :) I have a collection of fancy pants Thanksgiving side recipes I've collected from years of watching Food Network, but my all time fav is green bean casserole.
Hate to admit it... but I also like the jellied cranberry sauce in a can.
I love the sides- especially the mini onion with cream of mushroom sauce, sounds funny but that is the best way I can describe it.
My second favorite is the turkey leftovers- turkey sandwiches... nom, nom, nom!
When I was a kid we never had room left for the pie at the end, so we started having a "pie brunch" on Thanksgiving morning- definitely another favorite!

What do you most look forward to eating on Thanksgiving? The turkey? A special side?
I love the perfect bite of turkey, stuffing and gravy.
