Maybe pay for an excursion on their cruise ? like dolphins or zip lining? That could be fun! and you’d have the pictures to remember Your gift and she’d have the memories.

Awuh! That’s so sweet!!! I think the gift basket sounds like a great idea. I would have loved that when I turned 21 (I’m 23 now for reference). I hope you two have an awesome time. 🙂

@Nona99:  I turned 21 on Monday! My parents are throwing a get together at a popular bar in town. Birthdays are a pretty big deal in my family though and my mom, brother, and I share a birthday week. They got me an electric skillet, blanket, Rams t shirt, Cardinals tickets, card, gift cards to Starbucks and VS, and $100. Does she need anything for her house/apt? I personally do not like when my mom picks out clothes, shoes or bags because her style is different than mine but I pretend to like it anyways lol Maybe get her some wine glasses and a sovenier from Coors. We went on a Coors tour this summer and it was a lot of fun! For Christmas one year my parents gave us a gift certificate for the cruise we went on and it was great, what about something like that?

If you know her style, I think the gift basket is a good idea.

Or pay for an excusion on their cruise, like another bees suggested.

Or how about nice wine glasses, beer mugs, cocktail glasses – whatever is her favorite drink and a bottle of her favorite liquor?

@Nona99:  You are not lame. You are an AWESOME mom!

I would have loved that!! I think that is a cute idea. PLUS she can use her new cocktail dress on her cruise and order a drink!

I like the gift bag idea, and the suggestion of an excursion on the cruise is also great. Honestly if my mom just took my to the gift store on my birthday I would probably assume that meant she had forgotten to get me a gift 😛

Not sure how much you are looking to spend but something like a cute new purse with a bottle of champagne in it would be cute! Kate spade actually has wine/champagne holders with straps that I love! Or a regular purse if you think she would like that more. I know she’s turning 21 so everyone goes straight to boozy gifts but I’m sure she would like something she can keep as well. What about something from the heart like making her a scrap book of the past 21 years? 1 year per page.

I have to agree with PPs about paying for an excursion or part of the cruise. I’m about to turn 21, and last year my SO and I took a trip right after my 20th birthday to Europe. It was super expensive for us, and every gift giving holiday and on my birthday I asked for a little bit of money to go towards the trip. I think my half was about $2,500, and I ended up only having to pay about $1,000 after monetary gifts from my family. It was an amazing trip, and having the ability to pay for it was definitely better than anything else I ever would have asked for!

@Nona99:  I agree with the excursion, if you didnt want to do that, there will be a “formal” night on the cruise so maybe still getting her that nice cocktail dress, and a nice personalized necklace would be cute. my mom gave me a necklace for my 25th birthday that has a quote in French and i love it because only she and I know what it says. Or if she is a drinker you can order a bottle from the cruise website to have it sent to their room when they arrive.
