I need some help! I am going to apologize because this may get long!
Fiance & I are a little under 5 months from our BIG DAY!!! We went to look at tuxes today to look at color options in comparison to our swatches since all the bridesmaid dresses have been ordered & my dress has arrived (yay!!)
We ran into a dilemma though. The problem seems to be that since we are doing THREE Bridesmaid or Best Man dress colors (all jeweltones): plum, navy & wine, we can’t find the same vest and/or tie pattern in all three colors.
Sidenote: My dress is champagne, and originally Fiance had picked out a classic black tux with ivory accents. When we went in today, he was drawn to the Grey Kingston tux that savvi carries, & we decided to pick out a champagne vest and tie to go with my dress. Granted, it is a little darker, but looks nice with the grey. And if it ends up that black tuxes work better with everything, we’re ok with that too.
Back to the groomsmen/bridesmaids situation: I am fine doing a complimentary color of vest & tie for all of the groomsmen to go with all 3 bridesmaid dress colors, since we can’t seem to match so far – but we are having trouble agreeing on what color to pick.
– Has anyone seen these types of bridesmaid colors, or mismatched colors period, done with a complimentary color before?
– Or with all matching (We simply may look at Macys lol)?
– I thought about maybe even choosing just one of the bridesmaid dress colors and matching all the groomsmens’ accessories to it. Thoughts?
The tux he looked at today comes with a dark grey satin vest & tie for a very uniform look, but Fiance is still battling with trying to get everyone to match, or the groomsmen to match him and the bridesmaids somehow at least.
I thought I almost had him when I showed him his: grey tux, champagne vest & tie…
and then a possible groomsmen look: grey tux, darker grey vest, and keeping the champagne tie (to coordinate with FI) & mixing the grey and champagne pocket squares in each to pull it all together.
This actually surprised me by not looking bad… And then Fiance went back to wanting to try to at least get the 3 colors of tie and pocket squares with one solid color vest! But what do you all think of the grey and champagne tie mix?
Ultimately, we already have my dress in champagne & 6 bridesmaids & a jr (shorter version of same Bridesmaid or Best Man dress) in 3 plum, 2 navy, & 2 wine. We’re completely open to suggestions now on how to get the guys to look good & not clash with what we’ve got!! If any of you have new ideas, or really like one of the ones mentioned above, please share!
