Would you consider an ivory shirt with either a black shirt/tie, or a silver vest/tie?
Silver I was considering....definitely NOT black b/c my girls are all wearing navy...black and blue is SUCH a pet peeve of mine. LOL! But do all the guys wear ivory shirts??? I would think maybe yes??? This stuff is when I need a stylist! LOL!
Yes. all of the guys would wear ivory shirts- if someone was wearing white, it would make whoever is wearing ivory look dingy/dirty. I get you on the black and blue thing- my FI will never wear brown and black together!
You could do the silver vest, ivory shirt, with either a silver tie or a navy tie/pocket silk to tie in the colors.
I'm doing the same... except the suits are not charcoal they are like a light/medium gray with dark navy ties. It looked really nice with the ivory shirt when we went to pick it out. I still can't decide if I want them to have pockets squares though, but it looked so good I may decide that too. I hope that helps a little. :)
@dfontaine07: What color vest and tie is the groom wearing? I'm not sure about the pocket square either.....we bought suits and are buying the vests and ties. Most of those come with the pocket square, so I'll probably decide on that closer to the time.
@future_schu: That is SO funny!!!! I don't usually like brown and black together either...LOL!!!
@bfh426: I mean, I won't wear it either, but he's so anal about it! the ironic twist is that he had brown tables in the living room with a black bookshelf and tv stand when I met hom!
When we went for the boy's tuxes, the consultant expalined that although i was wearing an ivory gown, an ivory shirt tends to look...dirty. Plus, if they are rented shirts (which we had because the boys wore tuxedos), they will all be different shades of ivory.
the white shirts looked great on the boys, and you couldn't tell that my dress was a different color.
Also, we didn't have the boys wear vests. They just wore very classic tuxedos with suspenders. They looked great and didn't get super hot, which was good.

@bfh426: They actually are not going to be wearing vests. Since I"m getting married in July I don't want it to be too hot for them even for an evening wedding, but it looked a little more like a suit than a tux without and I liked the more casual feel of it. The tux is the Gray Legend by Calvin Klien, with Dark Navy ties by Portifino (I think that's the name lol) and then the Groom is wearing a Saffron yellow tie to match my shoes (he picked it out too!).
I thought about the black tuxes with navy and I saw some really nice examples all over the internet but groom liked the gray.
As for brown & black, another bride at my venue had it- & I would never think of doing that but it looked soo great! Here's a link to see their pictures:

So, I'm wearing an ivory dress, my bridesmaids are wearing navy blue dresses, and the groomsmen are wearing charcoal gray wedding suits. I'd like the groomsmen to wear navy vests and ties. What I'm not sure about are:
1. What color vest does the groom wear? ivory or white?
2. What color shirt does the groom wear?
I'm trying to keep a contempory formal vibe...meaning I know that suits aren't super formal, but I still want a more formal vibe. Any help would be appreciated!!!
