Mr Corn, his dad, his brother, my nephew and my dad all wore the same, non-vested tux. All but my dad and nephew's were purchased for Mr Corn's brother's wedding which was 9 months prior to ours.
Pics can be seen here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/11/07/the-ceremony-pro-pics/
Good luck!
so classy mrs corn! i love the look of the non-vested tux, seems a little less prom to me.
Thanks, Rebecca. Of course, I am now realizing that ktdid23 may have meant neckties without vests as opposed to bow ties. If that is the case, I actually am not sure it would work. You would have to find a tux jacket that would be cut in a way that it would hold the tie in place and keep it from flapping around.
We are doing tuxs without vests and with neckties, but I don't have pictures---the wedding isn't until July. But, my FH tried it on in the tux shop and it looks great. Our groomsmen will wear ties to match the bridesmaids' dresses.
I had the groom and Best Man in a tuxedo with ties...you can check out the pictures here...

In my opinion, the only thing that makes a tuxedo different from a suit is the the lapel and the stripe going down the pants...but you're not really going to notice it much in pictures...the other GMs were wearing a plain black suit....but I don't think you can tell the difference in the pictures.
MissBlueBear, thanks for putting up the link, but it says I need a password to view the pictures. I'd love to see them, if possible! Mrs. Corn - yes, I did mean a tux with tie and no vest, but I do love your pictures - very classy!
oh and there are prob better pictures in the Photojournalism folder of the boys....just click on the picture at the top that says Fox Hollow...
MissBlueBear - I love the tie your husband is wearing!! I am looking for one similar to that for my FHG and then one like that but in navy blue for the guys... where did you find yours?
Mr Tiramisu and his groomsmen are planning to go vest-less too. According to FFIL, it's a-ok as long as you wear suspenders! Not sure about this, but suspenders are fun so we're going with it :)
I found his tie at Men's Wearhouse...it was a bit on the pricey side though at $50....but I loved it so I just had to get it...but you may want to consider discount stores like TJMaxx, Filene's Basement, and Century 21 for ties as if you have enough time to search, you just might get lucky!

I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who is planning on having their groomsmen wear full on tuxedos without the standard vest/tie combo.... we're having a formal evening wedding, but I am in love with the idea of getting really nice silk ties for the groomsmen as their gift to wear on the wedding day - of course the ties would match the bridesmaids gowns. But I'm wondering what a tux looks like with just a tie and no vest... any pics would be great!
