ok, silly question. i was reading up on tuxedo etiquette. my FH, who has worn a tuxedo (which he owns) many times to formal events, wants to forgo the vest/cumberbund for suspenders alone with a bowtie. i love the look (ala james bond), but everywhere i read states that a tuxedo MUST be worn with a vest or cumberbund to cover the waist.

Our wedding is formal. all the men in tuxes, all the women in long dresses...

what do you girls think? what will your fiance be wearing?

He can wear whatever he wants! I see a lot of guys wearing Chuck Taylors with their tuxes and people dont make a big fuss.....so I dont think the no cumberbund/vest would be a big deal

If he likes it and you like it, then have it that way!

My FI and his groomsmen will be in vests and ties.  With his size midriff, I don't think a cummerbund would be too flattering!!

(Don't tell him I said that.)

If he likes it, and you like it, go for it!  Our groomsmen will be wearing pretty much the exact same look -- tuxes with no vest/cummerbund, suspenders, but a tie instead of a bowtie.  I've seen other weddings where the guys wear tuxes w/o vests and cummerbunds too.
