Yes, always suspenders as Jules, and BTG say.  They serve the same purpose as a belt. Side tabs are imperfect.  Sock garters, or over the calf socks should also be worn, because the last thing you want to do is ruin the line of the tuxedo by showing leg.  OTC silk socks can be found at Brooks Bros, for about $40, or in sizes at asuitablewardrobe.com for $60.

My fiance’s wearing exactly the same style/peak lapel with wedged shirt. Our tailor asked if we want suspender and both of us said no. I feel like it’ll turn away from looking oerfect if he takes off the coat because we don’t have vest. The tailor said it’ll be okay without the suspenders and we believe him because it wasn’t a cheap tux :p

a1vsue:  if the trousers have side tabs, this might be true, but generally the suspenders are a necessity.   The fact that the tux is high quality does not imbue its trousers with the ability to defy gravity.   Low riding waistbands can drastically diminish the appearance of a Tuxedo, or business suit, regardless of its other attributes, and quality level.  Once the jacket is off, the suit no longer looks perfect, because a gentleman is then wearing separates, that visually cut him in half, instead of visually heightening his body and making him look athletic.  So, I would recommend rethinking the decision, and giving priority consideration to how one loops with the jacket on, rather than with the jacket off.  I honestly don’t understand why men seem to feel that taking their jackets off is advantageous, let alone that many seem to consider it necessary, or inevitable.   One lose all of the wonderful advantages of wearing a suit!

    But I digress.

Duncan:  according to him he’s in love with his tux and won’t be taking the jacket off 🙂 but it was a if for any case.  Thank you for the recommendations I’ll check with the shop again.

a1vsue:  No problem, and glad he enjoys it.   I’ve also found, dune I started wearing suspenders, that they are more comfortable than belts, and you can also have your waistband tailored a smidgeon looser.
