Umm, what?!?! I've been posting around here lately even though I wasn't anticipating a proposal for another 6-months to a year, but he popped the question TONIGHT! I'm a communication major who spent 4 years on Speech and Debate; my SO (FH!! AHH!) jokes that it was the first time since we've been dating that I was completely at a loss for words.

For the last 3 years, we've been going through the same Christmas Eve routine; we have a sit-down dinner at my Grandma's with about 8 people, and then head over to his Uncle's house for a HUGE (we're talking 60+ people) Christmas party. This party has been going on for the past 47 years; it's a huge tradition. Since I come from a really small (and not necessarily close) family, I always rave about how much I love the party and how happy and spirited everyone always is. They hire a Santa to come in, and every kid (which is defined as everyone who's not married with kids of their own) sits on Santa's lap and recieves a gift. This year, my FH was playing "Elf" and handing the presents to Santa. They went through the whole list of names, and I was called last. Santa said, "I've got a VERY special gift for you this year!"

My FH got up from his seat, took my hands, stood me up, and got down on one knee. He said something along the lines of, "I haven't exactly been honest with you about the time frame... but you're the most important person in the entire world to me and I would be honored if you would marry me."

I literally stood there for at least 30 seconds. I had NO. IDEA. this was happening so soon! Finally someone said, "You know you have to answer him, right?!" So I nodded and 62 members of my brand new family burst into applause for us!! At least 4 people caught it on tape, I'll post the video of me acting like an idiot as soon as I get it!

And just one other thing that makes him perfect- while I was away at school, he invited my grandma and both of my parents out to lunch. He told them how much he loved me and how he would always treat me right, and it would mean the world to him to have ALL of their blessings. Again, NO ONE gave me the slightest inkling that I was getting engaged so soon!

Oh, and funny story about the ring- I thought about posting about it earlier this week, but I never had time. He took me out "ring browsing" on Tuesday and Wednesday to "get a feel for what I like." I fell in love with 2 rings for completely different reasons. YESTERDAY, I took my best friend to the mall to show them to her. Little did I know, she and my other BFF had gone with my FH over a month ago to help him find the perfect engagement ring, and HE PICKED ONE OF MY TWO FAVORITES! She didn't even bat an eye when I showed it to her.

Officially the best Christmas ever!!!!!
