Re-posting this from the Pittsburgh board…
I’m hoping I’m just being silly, but did anyone buy their gown and have an issue with the date your gown is supposed to be in pushing back by months? I ordered my gown at the end of November, 2011 for my wedding on 9/15/12. It was one of the gowns from the salon’s bouse line, and I just love it (similar to Enzoani Diana.) My consultant said it would be in in April, and told me I’d have to go to the new location to pick it up because they were moving after the first of the year.
I called at the end of April after not hearing anything and was told my date had pushed to May, and that they would call me when it came in. No explanation was given. I called again the first week in June and spoke to another lady who told me it hadn’t come in and was due in around the 4th of July, that the supplier was behind and this had been addressed. When I asked about having enough time for alterations she said not to worry because they don’t even start alterations until a month from your wedding date.
Have any other bees experienced this? Am I just being too OCD or do you think they forgot to order my dress? I’m starting to really worry that something has happened and that my gown won’t arrive with enough time to get it properly fitted. Should I start looking for a back up?

Sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s happening to me too, though I’m a few months behind you. I ordered mine in feb, was told it would be here June, they delayed to July and then last week they said the designer is very busy and won’t deliver it til November, 6 weeks before my wedding. I am unhappy as it was a custom dress so not even seen it yet. I plan on being polite but firm and plan on keeping on at the bridal store about it. I wouldn’t try to find a back up but I would be persistent to make sure it is with you in time. It’s stressful I know! GoodLuck!

I always have a back up. It would stress me out too much if I didn’t have a dress 6 weeks before the wedding. At this point I would be talking to the manager to make sure you actually get it. I would hate running around trying to find a readymade dress just before the wedding.

Something is definitely wrong. I am not sure if I would even be able to trust them at this point. I would shop for another dress and dispute the charges.

As far as alterations you should be fine, IF you get the dress sometime soon. I got my alterations back within 2 weeks. But mostly I’d be concerned about the fact that they continue to push the date back. I think I would physically go in there if possible and demand to know what is going on, make sure you call ahead and ask when management will be in. But yousometimes get a lot better results in person.

Thank you all for responding – this is one of those situations where I feel like I’m getting the “bridezilla” treatment from the salon because we still have two months. I’m going tomorrow after work to try on veils with the sample of my dress and talk with the owner about what our back up plan might be. I’ve already started looking for another dress in the event I have to buy one off the rack. 🙁 I really appreciate the feedback, even if it confirms what I was already dreading. Wish me luck…
