I was raised Pentecostal and FI was raised Catholic. We were going to have his priest do the wedding but I would kind of like my great uncle, who is also the pastor at my church, be part of the wedding as well. The priest already said he would be willing to work with my pastor. I just feel that we are only celebrating my FI's religion and not mine and he isn't even confirmed. I don't want to split the families but I would like my faith to be represented in the ceremony. After marriage we both plan on finding a religion we are both comfortable with, and the priest is totaly fine with this. Should I ask my uncle to be part of the cermony and have two officiants? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Yes, we are having our wedding in my Anglican church (episcopalian) but a Catholic priest will be assisting as FI is RC.

The catholic priest will do his vows and the anglican priest mine; they are going to bless the marriage together!  I think it will be really nice and it pleases his parents to no end.

Have you asked your FI how he feels about the idea? If he's fine with it and both officiants are fine with it, then go for it!

We had two celebrants: my brother (a protestant) and his Armenian apostolic priest.  It was beautiful, personal, and really a celebration of both traditions.  I say yes!

@Lemma: He says its fine and my choice.

I have a feeling it may bother his mom with the remarks she has made in the past but I know its not her choice. I know his dad wouldn't care and of course my parents would like it. I think I'm going to do it. Writing the post made me realize how much I want this.

I've never been to a wedding that had 2 officiants and didn't know how awkward it would make the families. Thank you for your comments it makes me feel more comfortable about my decision.
