Fiance and I are considering two different types of guestbooks. There will be notebooks (decorated of course) at each table. The front would invite guests to write us a message, advice, stories or well wishes for us to read on our *insert table number* anniversaries. I love this idea personally because it keeps us involved with the books through the years. Well, the first few anyhow 🙂
The second guestbook idea is more tech-friendly. We would be purchasing an app for our IPad, that allows guests to take photos of themselves and write messages for us. The photos would be saved and could later be uploaded. I love this idea because it brings the techie side of us out and seems like it would be fun. We would not be able to create a “photo booth” for the iPad due to space limitations. It would be sitting on a table with instructions and someone would be delegated the task of keeping an eye out on it.
Is this overkilll though? I wonder if people will even bother with the photo guestbook. Or that it might be ruined by someone.

I like the first, but not the second. I’d be afraid of technical malfunctions, something breaking, etc. It would just worry me too much.

It depends on your guests I think. I have a fair amount of people who are not super tech-y or into tech so I’m pretty sure the second idea, while very cool/innovative, would get little interest from my guests. However, if all of your guests are pretty tech-savvy and enjoy that kind of thing, it definitely is an option.
Maybe it’s just the weddings I’ve been to, but most people didn’t seem to write much more than “congrats” or “best wishes” or “so happy for you both” for the guestbook. I think it was more parents/close family that wrote more.

Love the books on the table and would use the idea if I were having more than just one long table. Brilliant!
The ipad could be off putting for those who aren’t tech savy. And it could disappear if you had a vendor or vendor’s assistant with sticky fingers.

I think our crowd is about half and half.. hence the possibility of two guestbooks. All of our guests will be close family members, and would likely write something in our table books. I think most of our friends would want to photograph themselves and it would probably catch on with many of those that might not be so “into tech.” Its pretty darn easy to point and press a button and use your finger to write something, haha. In the end, though, who knows what we will end up doing but I thought I would ask the bee for some input 🙂
Personally I would prefer to leave the iPad out myself, however Fi is completely in love with the idea so I’m hoping we can come to some sort of compromise. Perhaps having it removed by 10pm before people are too rowdy.. lessening the possibility of someone breaking poor iPad!
@Cappugcino: I love the simplicity, and double duty of the idea. I think I will just buy some nice little notebooks, cover them with pretty cardstock that matches our decor and voila, table number guestbooks!
