So here’s the situation…my husband and I have no idea what to name our son who is due to arrive in two weeks. We’ve read baby name books, baby naming websites, etc. and nothing stands out!
For a while we did have a short list of names we liked, including Charles Graham (in memory of his grandfather), Owen, and Emmett. But now we aren’t really “feeling” any of those names.
I know there are a lot of threads on here about boy names (pretty sure I’ve read them all), but I’m hoping maybe someone might throw a name out here that will strike a chord with us. For some guidance, we tend to like old-fashioned names, and nothing too popular (although I know now that Owen is more of a popular name).

You’ll probably look at him and say, how he looks like a Luke! (Or whatever name you think of that day.)
Jack (we only have met one other Jack here)
Actually, this list from an American website always intrigues me: http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ You can see the top 1000 names from last year.

What about calling him Graham so it is still in memory of a family member? Other suggestions: Henry or Harrison? I tend to like more traditional names but not sure if they are “old fashioned”: Matthew, Michael, Steven, Alexander, Joshua, Ryan, Thomas and Patrick. Good luck and like MapleBecky said, I’m sure you will look at him and be able to better give him a well suited name!

I like Jared and Ian and also Brad and Andrew. Not too trendy or old fashioned, but I like them.

As pp stated, when you look at your baby you will just know what to name him! I LOVE the name Owen!! My favorite all time boys name is Austin. Some people have a name picked out for a year and then when they see their baby for the first time they feel like it just doesn’t fit him or her and decide on something at the hospital… dont worry, you’ll figure it out 🙂

We are due August 12 and in the same situation for boys names.

Try this website: http://www.behindthename.com/top/
You can search for the top names from many countries, and from decades past – try US names from 1920-30 for example for some old fashioned goodies.

My grandpa’s middle name is Emmett- so I am partial to that. If this baby (due Aug. 20th) was a boy we were going to name him Beckett. You can use it if you like! 🙂

My friends just named their baby Calvin. I think it’s cute! Also, another set of friends named their baby Liam. Also cute!

We ended up picking ours from a movie. Rent some old movies and have fun! We decided on Westley from the Princess Bride. My first son was named Darian after a TV show. I know I am real imaginative….lol.

We really like the name Marshall and Dean

Jesse (we can’t name our son that– boo!)
Henry (we can’t name our son this one either. double boo!)
…. But I think Charles Graham is an excellent name. You can still name him that and call him by his middle name.

@StormyRose: My mom came up with my name after seeing it on an actress on CHIPs… Princess Bride is a WAY better source for a name! (BTW: I love my name… just think the story behind it is the sort of thing that makes you say.. “Really mom? From CHIPs?”)

I was gonna vote Oliver. Ollie is so cute!
These are all the old fashioned and classic guy names I could come up with that haven’t already been said. Boy names are hard!

I am a lover of old-fashioned but unusual names too. Some of my favs include;
Elliot (my current favorite)
I do like the idea of just using Graham as his first name. Have you guys considered that?
