I've seen it in a magazine, but haven't had any personal experience with it. From what I remember, the guests were just left to their own devices with it. I'm sure an introductory message was typed on their first.

So I just read Miss Lovebug's latest post, and because I didn't know what her theme was (new-ish reader!) I read her linked post and she mentioned a typewriter guestbook. I love this idea. has anyone done it? did you need someone to supervise or did you just leave out instructions? i would love to get some details on how to best do this. especially what type of paper, where to get long paper, etc. thanks!
