so i have been engaged almost 6 months and all i got is frustration! i just cant seem to get the ball rolling to plan anything, and i cant get FI to help very much despite lots of asking, and i cant plan much anyway cuz we r planning a dw and i dont know the limitations of the resorts we might choose from so i cant really develop ideas for ceremony or reception, i dont know how many ppl will be able to go or how much anything will cost or how much budget i need and i dont know who to ask or who to call or where to start! (resort planner vs independent planner vs travel agent etc etc etc) i dunno if u ladies have seen me post questions in the other threads, but this post is primarily just a venting session and to see if others feel like i do. its been 6 months of “we r thinking this” and “we r thinking that” but nothing is coming out of all my brainstorming and im getting tired of not being able to plan anything or get answers. i think it is mainly due to fear of calling places to ask for info when i know i cant make any decisions with it and because ive never done anything like this before and all of it is brand new experiences. ugh!

I feel you. I am really far away from where the ceremony will be so even though I am planning I feel like I am on my own and whenever I do something FI sticks his two sense in and it doesn’t help. 🙁
I would have loved to do this closer to home so I would feel more wedding like instead I’m communicating to my mom and BMs through email or the phone. It’s sort of a bummer.

oh i know. i feel like im gonna plan the thing and everybody is going to know i didnt take FI’s wants into consideration, but i am actually trying hard to do that! i just want him to help me call places and ask my list of questions. i also kinda feel like if i dont call every single resort or every single planner, i will not get the best deal or something. which i guess it doesnt matter if i get the best deal or not, really. i just need to get something!

@BeeG35: destiantion weddings can be tricky =) dont stress, you have a year and a bit which is exactly when i started mine
first – you need a country/city. then you look at the kind of venue you want – all inclusive hotels, boutique hotel, non-hotel venue (beach club, vineyard…whatever).
if youre going for all inclusive – family friendly or adult is a good starting point! then you look at what packages they provide etc
guest list is tricky – destination weddings are notorious for having guests who say they will attend then flake out. its tougher than local weddings int hat respect
the, like a home town wedding – colours, menus and what not!
ill add more whne i think of it…
