@travellingfool:  Mine didn’t start until way later, and they were decently uncomfortable (almost hard to talk through) and my stomach felt very tight.

If you feel something is not right, then please, please call your doctor.  They’ve heard it before, that’s what they’re there for.  You can just say “Something feels off, and I’m really concerned” and you should be able to go from there.  It’s better than sitting here stressing about it!

When I was 7 weeks pregnant, my DH accidentally spilled a whole bowl of soup on my lap.  I burned so bad I blistered, and I still have the scars (and likely always will.)  I called the after hours line, and asked if I should be concerned (they were 2nd degree burns).  The nurses laughed because I was so frantic (not unkindly) but they still made me feel better.  They didn’t make me feel silly, even though my complaint was basically “I burned myself, and I know the baby is tiny, but it hurts.”

I have been having them up to 15 times a day since I was 19weeks too. by the end of the day they can be quite painful, I told my ob about them at my appointment on Tuesday and she was very concerned about the strength I was already experiencing. I’m going in for internals every 2 weeks now to check my cervix.. But saying all that, they are completely normal, if you start having really heavy discharge thats when it becomes a concern. Still mention it to your doc tho so she can keep an eye on them.

I first experienced mine late in the 2nd tri.  Now I’m 34.5 weeks and I’m really feeling them.  I’m getting them once an hour.  You did the right thing of calling.  Just write down when the happen and if it increases I’d call again.

I had bleeding at 29 weeks at 1:45am.  I called the after hours and didn’t get a response. I called a second time and no response.  The bleeding stopped and I felt the baby move.  My mom wanted to take me to ER but I thought it was silly.  The next day I called my doctor and she made me come to Labor and Delivery.  Then I felt awful that I didn’t do something sooner.

So you did the right thing calling.  Don’t hesitate!
