Just curious - did you buy it the day you fell in love with it? I feel like girls who buy their dress right away end up having regret. If you're torn about it, go to DB and try it on again and enjoy the time you spend standing in the dress. Don't criticize it and look for imperfections, just enjoy it on. Take pictures of if you can. Then, go home and look at the pictures. If you still feel wishy washy then, go try on other dresses and see if anything makes you feel that way.
i have post the same advice to other girls here. stop looking. if you already choose and bought, stop looking. there will always be a dress that you will like better than yours. is the same with men, there will always be a better men out there, btu you wont change yours. so why change your dress?? the dress you choose is gorgeous...
you have to stop looking!!! i think i looked more right after i purchased and i had to stop myself bc i began second guessing also. the only thing i do is i have saved a pic of my dress and i open it every now and again to remind myself how much i loved it. i avoid any and all other shopping sites for dresses. also those two dresses look very similar and im sure you will look gorgeous no matter what!!!
I think you should just say yes to YOUR dress! Its very gorgeous. I love the sweet heart shape.
@LadyGoodman - I tried on the dress then went back 2 days later and bought it. I'll try putting it back on though and give a good thought about how i feel about it.
@Magenta - I had heard that advice before and I did stop looking. the Maggie dress that is posted here was the other top contender. My mind just kept drifting back to it. I'm hoping that having the dress fit in all the right places after alterations will make a difference since the dress I received was a lot looser than the sample i tried on in the store. Thanks for the compliment though
@DanicaCherise - I have the dress hanging right now in my closet and everytime I start to doubt it I try to go have a look at it. I reminds me how gorgeous the dress is. :)
I had the SAME thing happen! If you look at my first post on weddingbee, that is what it was about. Funny thing is, we chose the SAME dress! I have the one you bought and second-guessed it too... but it really is a beautiful dress!!!
I bet once you get your alterations done, you will feel so much better! Just having something that fits can work wonders.
@kelsidawn - That's exciting that someone has the same dress! It is a really gorgeous dress. :) I don't know why I keep second guessing myself. I'm just too indecisive. It drives my FI insane sometimes! haha
Been there. My Fi and my mom heard me have emotional break-downs over "getting the wrong dress." But when all is said and done, we'll both look great in this dress, and after all, it is just a dress-- we'll be married, too. And our FIs will think we look GORGEOUS no matter what. Good luck dress twin! ;)
I looked at your pictures of your dress and it looks gorgeous on you :) I also think I had that veil too, which I also ended up purchasing.. kind of an impulse buy with that though. :/
Yes, in those photos the dress is one size too small, so it doesn't fit quite right. I don't have any photos of me in MY dress-- those photos are of me when I tried it on at the store. It looks much nicer now that it has been altered and FITS me right! I hope to post pics soon of me in my actual dress! :)
I love the first dress, the dress that you bought. I think it is very pretty. I love it. In my opinion you made the right choice!
I think your David's Bridal dress is beautiful!!! I think it's a great choice!
I completely understand how you feel, I haven't chosen my dress yet but I'm torn between a ball gown and a more fitted gown. But someone made the comment to me that I can always wear a more form-fitting gown to a special occasion but how often can you wear a ball gown??
It's the one day we can get away with the ball gown-type dress, right?
anyway, that's my 2 cents. :)
My dress is VERY similar to the one you chose. I chose Pronovias' Megan.
That being said, Both the dresses to me have the same shape... so the main difference is the tulle and draping...
I think I even tried that Maggie on and I felt that it was like a "less special" version of the one with the tulle.
I think you made a great choice! And yes, alterations will help!
I think it's gorgeous. I agree with PP...you have got to stop looking. Once you haev made up your mind, don;t look anymore..you will just keep confusing yourself.
I have the same dress as you and am having doubts as well. I never tried on the first dress I fell in love with and can't get over this nagging doubt so I'm trying that one on this weekend. Happily, I haven't ordered any dresses yet.
I think we've all felt this way at one point or another. You have to remember how you felt in the dress when you decided it was your own and how beautiful it made you feel. Everyones right--youre always going to see dresses that are gorgeous, but when it comes down to it, are they any better than yours?? No way! they had the special magic of making you feel like the most beautiful bride in the world!
When you stand there on your wedding day, you'll know you made the right decision. Your dress is much more gorgeous than the Maggie, and definitely more detailed. You are going to look stunning!
SO STOP LOOKING :)
I like your dress better than the one pictured! I am sure you look wonderful in it.
I have a similar build to you and ended up choosing between a more form fitting dress and a fuller dress as well. I chose the more form fitting gown, and I occassionally had dress regret that I didn't choose a fuller dress :) Your dress is gorgeous! If you really want it to be more form fitting, take it to a good seamstress and see what she can do about making it a slimmer a-line.
I love your dress! The Maggie one is beautiful too, but I just love the top of the David's Bridal one. The sweetheart neckline will look fabulous, and I just plain love the bottom off it better than the Maggie one. I think you made the right choice. Stop looking! You'll drive yourself crazy!
If it helps, I decided to wear my mom's dress. I altered it to make it my own, but I kept thinking, "what if I just take a sneak peek and look..." I didn't. I would've drove myself crazy with a new, modern dress. I was honoring my mom and loved what my seamstress did with her dress for me. I was ridiculously comfortable the day of the wedding, and now have no regrets. Wear your dress the same way and don't look back!
I almost got this dress. It is beautiful! I loved it the moment I saw it in their magazine but I ended up getting my other choice but would have been very happy with this dress. I would stick with it. And yes, after you get it fitted to you it will look 10 times better, it sounds like you have the right kind of body for it too. Anyway, its gourgeous, keep it!!!
Been there as well (and occassionally still am)! I just have to push all doubts of my head and stare at MY dress and just say this is THE one I will be wearing and close the book! Tough, but gotta do it! The DB dress beautiful though! It'll fit your figure amazingly!
my feeling is that you HAVE to love the dress. But...are you the type that is frequently indecicive?
If yes, then I think you may be overthinking the choice. I bet you will look amazing!
If you normally stick to your first choice, and you are having REAL second thoughts (not just rethinking the same details over and over again) then I think you might want to try on a few more to be certain.
Personally, after I bought my dress, I never had a second thought about it. Sure I had thoughts like "maybe I will looks terrible" or "maybe i should have looked at all my options" but then i remember what the dress attendant told me:
"When you try on the right one, you just know!"
@love2lol - you are right about it being the only day where we get to wear a real "princess dress" :) My FI actually expected me to get a short dress since we are having an outdoor ceremony. I told him no way because I wanted an beautiful wedding gown!
After reading everything It's really calming my nerves about having the dress doubts. I am usually really indecisive so I'm just going to tell myself to shut up (haha) and enjoy my princess dress :)
Thank you so much for all your advice! It means a lot.

Ok, I have heard that a lot of people second guess their dress choice but I can't get it out of my head.
The Dress I have is David's Bridal t9669. (Hopefully the picture posts) I don't have any pictures of myself in the dress.
When I was trying on the dresses I kept looking at more form fitting dresses like Maggie Sottero's Carrie (2nd picture) but when I tried the david's bridal dress i really fell in love with it.
Now i'm second guessing, I'm afraid it's not as flattering as I had hoped. I'm almost 6ft tall and slender. It's just something that has been bugging me now for the past month.
