I think that its wonderful that you want to adopt! There are so many kids in this country just waiting for someone to give them a wonderful and loving home! I realize that this was a vent thread, but i’m tearing up. lol I’m a teacher and those kids that have no “home” to go to everyday just kills me. All they want is to know that they have a nice warm bed, food and caring people to go home to. What you two are deciding to do is such an unselfish gesture. Thank you for sharing! πŸ™‚

good for you. We adopted after 3 bio children and got the same flak. “You have your OWN kids…” But 4 adoptions later we don’t regret it ONE bit! We love our large family and my adopted children are just as loved and wanted as my bio kids.

oh i think it’s so great that you want to adopt! i have several friends who were adopted and i sometimes wonder where they would be in life if someone like you hadn’t made them part of their family.

thank you for having the strength and the will to adopt! i love you for it!

As an adopted child, I think it’s awesome and nobody will ever understand how you feel so just explain that to them. πŸ™‚

I think it’s awesome, and I don’t see how anyone gets off asking such intrusive questions. Sheesh.  That’s just as bad as saying to a pregnant woman, “There are so many needy kids in the world; why aren’t you adopting?”

Everyone has their own reasons, and any child who gets loving parents is lucky, whether bio or adopted.

People are so rude!

I think it’s terrific that you want to adopt. We aren’t planning on having any kids ourselves right now (we’re both young at 26 and 30) and we do know people that don’t understand that so I understand what you must be going through. If we ever do decide on having kids, we will most likely adopt though.

i think adoption is a great family plan – it takes strong people to adopt and i commend you on that decision. Don’t let other peoples opinions bring you down πŸ™‚

@tiffyb24: While I want my own bio kids, I don’t know if it will be possible since I already have fertility issues at 24. But I’ve wanted to adopt out of the foster care system ever since I was a little girl. Especially older children and siblings. Some people say that it’s admirable that I want to do that, others ask why on earth would I want to adopt older children, especially children who probably have emotional issues from being in the foster care system. You are never going to make everyone happy, and those who don’t understand do not have the heart for adoption. You do, and that takes a very special person. I would take comfort in that, and forget about the nay-sayers πŸ™‚

I’m glad you are making your own decisions. I hope people are only asking out of caring for you, if not- its none of their beeswax!
