A friend of mine had a photographer for $1500 and it seemed "too good to be true". And it was. She came and did her photography and then they went bankrupt and couldn't provide the album.
You MAY be able to call around and ask photographers who do Shoot and /Burns, since that's basically all you want. A friend of mine used to do Shoot and Burn weddings (6-8 hours as a brand new photographer and provided the CD for about $800, then $1500, then she did full packages.
I know two people who have gone with Kelly Manno and have been very, very happy with her. Her cheapest package is $2,000 but it's a shoot and burn WITH an album. And she really is excellent.
http://www.journalisticstyle.com/packpris.htm has packages for under $1,000 but the hours max at 5.5 hours.
And a lot of the photography studios in st louis that are more affordable are actually owned by a corporation and they own a bunch of little studios all over the U.S. I konw they are cheaper but personally they are my least favorite. Everything kinda looks the same and very cliche and uninspiring.

She does 6 hours for $850, comes with a CD, and is an amazing photographer! Pretty modern & photojournalistic. If you type her name into facebook, she has a page and a wedding album to look at. She's so nice too!

@M.Ruder: Look up Ashley Pagano on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/people/Ashley-Pagano/553679000. She has albums on there you can look at & you can message her for information. Ashley is super sweet; I met her my 1st year of college through the guy I dated in high school. She is an up and coming photographer who is priced really well since she's trying to continue to build up her client base. She does good work, and for about $1000 you get all day coverage, an engagement session, a CD with all the photos, and an album. The price varies on the type of album you want; or, if you don't want one, it'd be even cheaper. She does the albums at cost; no markup or anything like that. I think all her clients have been really happy with their photos.

My FI and I are having a hard time finding a photographer that will fit our wedding.
If you've got any ideas, please, please please help! =) I will send you 1,000,000 M&Ms!
We need someone who:
Has a package under $1000
This package should include atleast 6-8+ hours of photography (The more the better!)
Should be a contemporary/modern photographer
The package needs to include a copyrighted CD.
Is there a person out there that fits all of this?!?! Or am I just dreaming?!?!
