So after hearing the Christina Perri song “A Thousand Years” a few months ago, I knew that would be our wedding song. Well it took me until now to figure out that it was associated with Twilight (insert sad face here). Now I have to figure out another song that I love or just suck it up and say who cares and use it. What do you guys think???

I wouldnt have even known it was a “Twilight song” If you love the song use it!

im actually looking to use this song as i walk down the isl. (not a twilight fan either) if you actually search it on this site there are a lot of people using this song and a few threads about anti twilight fans using this song. IMO its a great song and i dont even think its in the movie??? i think its just in one of the commercials

I haven’t heard the song, but I say if you love it, go for it. I am not a Twilight person at all, but I have noticed that a lot of artists I love (Death Cab, Metric, etc.) have made songs for the soundtrack. So even if the movies are bad, the music associated with them seems pretty good 🙂 Moreover, I doubt any one would notice, or, if they do, care. They’ll be thinking about you, not about the movie!

Go ahead and use it! Those that notice it will either be ‘aww, yay, Twilight,’ or if they’re judging you, well, they’ve freaking watched Twilight enough to recognize the song, so they can hush it 😉

I am actually a Twilight fan – although Breaking Dawn pt1 was a pretty crappy movie. I just listened to this song and I don’t even remember it being in the movie. Go for it, I got goosebumps listening to it.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Twilight. Most people at a wedding aren’t the Twilight age group… and a great song is a great song, no matter which movie happened to use it.
We’re using this song for our first dance. It was the perfect solution to our first song problem.

I say you should use it…I heard it long before I knew it was associated with Twilight and I bet most people won’t even realize!

This is an amazing song. Don’t let the fact that it’s from the Twilight soundtrack prevent you from using it. Most people won’t even associate with that.

Most people won’t connect the two at all. Use the song if you love it regardless of whatever movie it’s been used in.

Thanks everyone!!! I have talked to a few of my friends that are into the movies and they said its NOT in the movie, but in the music video they used clips from the movie. I DON’T CARE anymore…. I LOVE the song!!!! 🙂

I voted use it if you love it. I don’t care how lame it is, the first soundtrack (the only one I’ve listened to) had some good music, like Radiohead!
I’ve seen the movies, and I can’t place where this song even was in any of them.

I never would have known either and I’ve definitely seen twilight.

Ugh, I agree! I loved the song when I first heard it, and still do. I wish it wasn’t on the Twilight soundtrack. Everyone has given some good advice. Very few people at the wedding will know it’s from that soundtrack, and my guess is that they all know you well enough to know that you aren’t a diehard fan. I don’t think anyone will look down on you :-).
