I know we all say, "It's not my style" "I wouldn't choose it" "It wouldn't fit my body type" "Unique" "Not as flattering as it could be" and other platitudes but really, what's the dress that you think is truly ugly.

Over the top? Skanky? Boring? Weird? Common?

Sleeves? No sleeves? Halter? Sweetheart? Tulle? Tafetta? Lace? Colors? Tea length?

We all have things we hate and I know there are a ton of super ugly dresses out there that are purposely crazy, but what dress is actually worn by regular brides that you hate?

I'm sure there are people out there who would absolutely hate my dress, so this isn't about ragging on specific people, just designs that you wouldn't wear if someone paid you!

I really don't like collared dresses or frilliness or sheath skirts or satin, so this is probably the worst for me

There are dresses that I hate that I've seen look good on people... and maybe it's more important that the dress be flattering.  Honestly, I really hate the whole feather thing and all of the crazy texture on the bottom of dresses that seems to have come in style within the last 6 months or so.  I also generally don't like a lot of bling.  I don't like pickups for myself, but they look good on some people.

I don't like dropped waist mermaid style gowns. I think they are ill-fitting on every body type. They just don't flatter the shape of a woman and look awkward from every angle.

I hope you don't get a bunch of bees tsk-tsking at you along the lines of "now, now, how would you feel if you saw YOUR dress here" because this has the potential to be a fun thread.  :)

I so want to comment, but the one I HATE is really, really popular on here.  I just don't get it.

Personally, I'm not a fan of halter-style or pick-ups. I don't like the "Cinderella" type gowns with big poofiness and tulle, either. I really don't like a lot of Pnina Tornei (sp?) gowns, I find a lot of them too gaudy for my taste.

But that's just me, everyone has their own opinion! :)

I think I'm going to have to agree with @Mrs.ChubbyBunny: on her choice! It just doesn't seem flattering from any angle... and a little awkward.

Personally, I've never liked bold colors in dresses.

I also cannot STAND cheap fabrics.

@MrsNeutrino: Yea, those dresses where the skirt looks like a matress cover or a crumpled bed spread....just don't do it for me. I've only seen them look okay a few times.

@EleanorRigby:I'm not a fan of tons of bling either. I know some girls demand a ton of it but those types look more like quinceanera dresses to me

@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: Yea, not many body types can handle that style. Though I do like crumb catchers, I know a lot of people detest them.

I really hate all the dresses where the bottom looks torn or ripped up and the ones that look like old chenille bedspreads.

I find myself asking "what is/are" a lot of WB! Clearly I'm not weddiny savvy.

I want to play! I know it is popular and I don't mind if people boo... but I hate satin... I hate hard white and shiny... and I am of the personal opinion no one looks good in a true mermaid dress...

So here is the worst I found... with all three.

@MrsNeutrino: You and I are totally on the same page. Anything that looks like a quinceanera dress made with cheap fabric would be my worst nightmare.

ETA: I'm really tired of people saying that threads like this are going to blow up because of people getting offended. Honestly, we all have our preferences; nobody is going to like EVERY dress out there. But I find it interesting seeing which styles other people like and don't like.

I know a lot of people hate mermaid gowns, and I ended up wearing one for my wedding. Am I going to go cry in a corner? No. Someone saying they can't stand mermaids is not the same as someone looking at a picture of me in my dress and going, "God, you look hideous in that thing!" The OP stated that this is not meant to be an attack thread, and as long as people stick to posting catalog/runway photos and not personal photos, I don't see what the problem is.

I don't think the thread was started to hurt feelings. In fact, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if my dress popped up on this thread, nor would it bother me. It's just opinions and it shouldn't matter as long as no one is calling someone out and being like, "your dress is hideous". Just opinions, that's all. Hopefully no hard feelings! Feel free to make fun of me Smile

@Mrs Hedgehog: I'm with you.  I never understand the appeal of a thread created specifically to bash other people's choices especially when the "ugly" dresses posted are identical to dresses that have been bought by other bees.

I like bold colored dresses but only when the whole dress is that color. Patches of color are hard to pull off--looks like a cheerleading outfit to me.

I have to admit that the Pnina Tornes look lux, but there's just soooo much of them. I couldn't haul it around all day.

I think mermaid can look good on certain body types, but I wouldn't be confident enough to wear it.
