Have you actually seen photos of the carpet? Sometimes carpet looks bad in person, but in photos, it isn't really noticeable.
Eeek! One of my must-haves for a venue was no carpet! From what I have seen, uplighting can make carpet practically disappear.
In addition to the uplighting, maybe you can add some pretty paper lanterns, chandeliers, or other ceiling hangings, that will draw the eyes up and away from the carpeting?
Just draw the eye to the tables. I have weird carpeting on the perimeter of my room and an ugly railing thing. I'll hang [something] low to the tables and then of course have centerpieces. So if anyone is still staring at the floor, they're just nitpicking :)
Our venue doesn't really have pretty carpet either, so we're doing ceiling draping with white lights and maybe some lanterns in our wedding colors.

so i found the perfect venue and its everything we want...however it has carpet....with the dancefloor it covers most of it, but theres still a good chunk of carpet that you can see, and that would be visible in photos. anyone have any suggestions how to cover this or if anyone else has had this experience???
