So, I let my Fiance convince me to have our reception at the hall that is connected to the church. I didn’t want to, but evidently love has made me insane. Anyhoo, I was able to convince him that we needed to rent round tables in lieu of using the standard rectangle ones the church has available, but I’m having a much more difficult time getting him to agree on a solution for the horrifically ugly chairs at the hall. Ug! The horrible and I hate them. Fiance thinks that they’re fine and no one will pay them any mind. Won’t even consider chair covers…not that I can afford them anyway.
Does anyone out there have any creative ideas for jazzing up this mess?

I am in the same boat you are. My venue was not my first of choice, but it is a family tradition and my father will be paying for it. If it were up to me I would choose to have it elsewhere, but I wouldnt want to put that financial burden on my dad.
The chairs tables and walls there are all ugly!!! I have been thinking about renting chairs, but my Fiance thinks it would just be a waste of money. I found a place where I can rent chairs for .75 a piece, and they deliver. I am usually very frugal and pretty much a DIY bride, but I want everything amazing, so I am totally torn…
How many chairs do you need to cover up,what are your colors, and what is your budget.

See if there are any planners locally that offer chair cover rentals. I offer them locally at a lesser price than the linen companies. Or if you only need a few, you can buy them used, clean them, and sell them again. Good Luck

If it wont contrast too much maybe a sash around the backs of the chairs in you wedding color might work. Or maybe you can find out if it is cheaper to just have chair covers that on cover the back of the chair. I found some pictures to give you an idea:
