do you have a picture of the church?
if you can use candles, those can do a lot to change the ambiance. they're also super affordable. check with the church on flame restrictions.
Oh yeah I definitely will. I'm going to see it tomorrow so I'll ask and take pictures...
Here are some ideas. If you aren't a fan of tulle than I think flower arrangements and candles are your best bet. Do you care for satin bows or ribbon instead of tulle? Not sure what your colors are either?

You could possibly light the aisle and alter with lanters if there are restriction on open flames.

@mrs.peters.to.be:I don't mind anything but tulle haha. I have a peacock feather color scheme. Mostly greens and blues. I have hydrangeas as flowers...
Great pics, thanks!
talk to your florist and tell her you want all of the flower arrangements at the church to do double duty. she can help you come up with things that have a big effect in the church and can be reused at the reception. she might charge you an additional delivery fee, but it will still save you money by reusing arrangements.
@kitzy: :( I don't have a florist. My fiance and I just went to Michaels and the dollar store and did all the bouquets and my centerpieces are non-floral...

So to make a long story short my Fiance and I live in Missouri but we are getting married back home in Chicago. Unfortunately, the church I've gone to my whole life's day is booked and we could only find one church that would marry us (since we aren't parishioners there....)
Leave it to the Catholic church to make you beg to be a part of their church. Augh. Anyways, we were left with no real option and the church is not very naturally pretty so I need help finding out a cost-efficient way to decorate it... Also, I really hate tulle... I think in more cases than not it just looks very 80's to me and I really don't think it looks good in a church.
Any ideas?
