Don’t know what type of dress it is and if its appropriate but sometimes going without a bra will help. If the dress is that tight it should hold the girls up right?

First, research Spanx. There are different levels of support in the shapewear. But beware the Spanx can have a tendency to roll down or ride up depending on which kind you get. I find that it isn’t the best for my back fat when I wear it lol.

I would Google something right now called BodyMagic. This is what I wore under my wedding dress. It is this magic shaper that makes you lose a bajillion pounds just by putting it on. There’s this whole philosophy behind it that it helps you lose weight, yeah whatever, I’m not buying that crap, but as a shapewear, nothing better. The straps are detachable and I can say without a doubt, this thing stands up straight without straps – whereas my strapless Spanx shapewear that come up under my bust, it rolls down. Anyway, BodyMagic. That’s my recommendation. They are the most awesome shapewear of life.

By the way, if you do decide to go with a BodyMagic let me know and I’ll tell you where I got mine. Different people are authorized to sell and I actually have two from two different places and one fits me a little weird so I’ll recommend you the place I got the one I wore at the wedding.

Here’s a link. http://www.ardyss.com/tx/ Yes I’m super helpful tonight LOL. Click on the Products tab and then you’ll see a list of all of their different women shapers.

A seamstress may be able to let it out enough to fit, depending on the dress type. Is there alot of fabric near the seams in the bust area? Definitely worth asking.

@mrsc630:  Sorry! I know shape wear can be so expensive sometimes, Spanx have broken my bank on more than a few occasions!

I went to a fancy bra store and got a full on corset/long line bra for my BMs dress last summer and it went completely bizarro on the boning day of. Made my dress fit even worse – dug into my waist and flared out in huge bumps around my hips. Whatever you get, do a test run! Or multiple.

You originally said that the issue is in your bust area. Are you .. um.. “well endowed”?

I’m not sure shapewear will squish the girls – I’ve never found anything that made a dress fit my boobs better – and if it did “mush ’em down” I ended up being umcofortable and possibly looking a little obscene (with cleavage up to my chin, trying to ecape the shapewear, for example)

If your boobs DO seem to be the problem – which is the way I read your post (and is probably the case if the zipper has no trouble until an inch below the band of your bra or higher) – then maybe a minimizing bra would be worth a try?  Or even just a different strapless?  (Personally, I don’t enjoy going without, but that is another option, if you are comfortable with it.)

Lilyette makes a strapless minimizer : http://www.amazon.com/Lilyette-Tailored-Strapless-Minimizer-939/dp/B0010VXCJO

But a non-moulded cup might work even better (add less volume in the dress)

Shapewear will definitely help. I can’t offer a suggestion on a brand, but yesterday at my fitting my seamstress was telling me about this corset she has that makes women loose 2 sizes! I don’t know where she gets them (I’m not using one) but I’m sure you can find something in your price range that will work. I recommend going to Nordstrom and talking to them. The sales staff is awesome and they will definitely help you find something. If you think that might be out of your price range, I know Kohl’s and Target both carry Spanx’s low end/less expensive brand (I think it’s called Assets?). Good luck!

@mrsc630:  I didn’t see your last response. If you can zip it up then Shapewear will 100% solve your probem (and make it more comfortable). No need to starve yourself 🙂
