No, but you should see your doctor. I'm sure there's a women's health clinic in your area that you can see until your benefits kick in. You're probably not pregnant, but some people need a little intervention getting the normal processes going again, and you might be one of them since it's been two months! When I stopped the pill my period was four days late the first time, but I think it's because I have a generally longer cycle than the 28 days I was having with BC.
It depends on how your cycle was to begin with. A lot of women have irregular cycles and may go on BC to ease symptoms of that, as well as PMDD or other hormonal issues (or physical, at that). Sometimes it takes months to get a normal period. It also depends on the type and dosage of your birth control. Each person has a unique body chemistry.
I would take a pee stick just to ease your mind (Stress can and will delay a period anyways). If you don't get it by the third month, contact a local gyno to overrrule any medical conditions.
I assume you're referring to pills rather than any other monthly form.
Side note for anyone else, it's more difficult to regain your period after using a long term BC like an IUD. I went on the pill so that when I got off of it, my period would (hopefully) go back to normal to increas chance of bearing children. My doctor advised the other forms could take up to a year or more to regulate your cycle after going off of them... :/
Yes, I was on the pill and I never had a problem getting my period on time before starting it. I'm not worried or stressed, just curious why I haven't started, Though I talked with FI and we plan for me to pee on a stick if I don't start in the next few days.
@Marigold-it's only been a month, if it were 2, I definitly would be more worried! lol. If I have to take a test, and I'm not I'll definitly be going to a doctor!
Since I have gone off the pill my cycles have been all wonky. Sometimes they are more than 40 days. Often moving and other major life changes can also disrupt it (it was 2 months late when I spent a summer in Italy).
I guess my point is not to be too worried; but you know your body better than anyone else, and if it is too long definitely see a doctor.
Good luck!
It depends. I think it depends on the level of hormone you were on and on your body.
I get totally messed up when I start and stop. I become an emotional basketcase and one time I just bled for months, even after I restarted.
Friggin' hormones.
Good luck.
Don't worry! I didn't get one for 5 months after going off BC. It's normal within 6 months, otherwise see a doc. You may want to do a pregnancy test every month until you get one, I did just to ease my mind :)
PS- Portland has PP's too. Washington state has different programs (granted) but P-town will have similar where everything may not be free but at low cost.
I was going to say, Planned Parenthood can take care of you in Oregon. Get to them now and don't wait for your benefits to kick in. They'll give you low/no cost care... Thank goodness for organizations like theirs!
You can get really cheap pregnancy tests at Target or Dollar Tree too, if you just want to make sure right away...
Just wanted to chime in, I lived in Portland for four years and LOVED going to Planned Parenthood! Oregon provides free birth control and annual exams for all women up to age 27, regardless of income. If you're over 27, they will definitely provide bc at an extremely reduced cost or free if you qualify.
I loved the PP on NE 14th, near MLK! There's also another on SE 50th - just check out their website for more locations!
PS Every time I've gone off of or switched bc, my periods have vanished or popped up unexpectedly for the first month or two. Hope that helps.
birth control stops working once you've missed two pills so definately use a back up if you do not desire pregnancy at this time!
I just wanted to second what everyone else is saying- pp will hook you up in portland for little or no cost... they always did for me. Also it might not be a bad idea to take a preggo test so that you don't need to worry so much. Hope it all works out alright!
I'm not worried about really starting another set of BC, since it makes it hard for me to lose weight. I'm still deciding what I want to do there.
I was just wonder what ou ladies experienced when switching or coming off. It's weird to have a period just vanish! lol. I took the pill very religously and we always used condoms with it. haha. I will test in the next couple days if I don't start.
Hope I do, though, since these cramps suck!
I actually switched brands a few years ago and started the new pack maybe half way through my other pack. I completely skipped my period that month and maybe the one after, and ever since then I still start about 2 days after I'm supposed to. Which is weird, but I'm used to it so it works.
It took my body a little less than a year before I became regular after comming off and for about the first three months I didn't even get my period so don't fret too much!
Update: Just wanted to let anyone who might be curious know that I took a test to ease our minds and it was negative. Still no Aunt Flo, though. lol.
Why not just go to an urdent care facility and ask them to prescribe it? Do you not have insurance? There are ways to get it cheaply if you cannot afford it.

Last year, when I lived in Washington I went to planned parent hood to get birth control. They gave me 13 months straight up because I was part of a low income program. Fast forward to now. We moved to Portland, and I have no way of going back there to get more. So I decided to stop taking it once I ran out and get a perscription once my benefits kick in in Nov. I stopped taking it at the End of September.
Fi and I don't have sex all that often, but we always use condoms when we do, so I'm not too worried. But I haven't gotten my period yet. I know my hormones are all wack because I'm off the BC, but surely I should have gotten it by now? Does anyone know how long BC takes to get out of the system and if it's relevant to why I haven't started?
