So, yesterday, during a team meeting my boss (who I’ve reported to for a few months) mentions that it’s performance evaluation time. She then says that she’ll need some additional time with me, because she says she’s not sure about my function/work processes for the material I work on. In a nutshell, I do a lot of work for our subsidiary, and my other co-workers have started doing more work for our parent company. My boss works for the parent company, so she regularly interacts with my co-workers on projects.
Now I’m a tad worried. I don’t see how I’ll be getting a good evaluation after this, if she isn’t clear on what I work on and the value I add.
Plus, in the time I’ve been reporting for her, I got married and took 2 weeks of PTO. I also didn’t have the bandwidth to take on additional work, since my evenings and weekends were spent on wedding stuff, and I was usually tired at work.
She said something about how we hardly talk, how I’m the most independent team member. Hmm…
I’ve offered to send her a detailed list of what I’m working on. Any other ideas of what I should be doing? Should I offer to schedule weekly/bi-monthly 1:1 meetings? Offer to help her more with her projects (even though I probably only have 10-15% more capacity to do so, given my own projects)? Figure out exactly how much time is spent on what projects?
