Just needed to vent. We put our very first offer in on a condo Friday, went back and forth and finally they accepted the best offer we could muster. We were soooo excited, it was our dream place. We thought this was a long shot and they wouldn’t accept but they did!!! Things were going to be tight but we loved the place and worked it out budget wise. WELL they decided they wanted to take back accepting our offer and didn’t respond to anything for 2 days! So the past 2 days have been terrible.. we’ve been anxious, stressed, fighting, bummed, every freakin emotion! Well today we got the final word, they pulled out. I was so devastated this morning. I just needed to share. I feel so defeated that there isn’t any other place we want out there and we’re on a little bit of a time crunch with the tax credit. Hopefully more comes on the market that interests us. 🙁 Has this happened to anyone else??

Oh I’m so sorry! I’m sure it’s awful, but hopefully something new will pop onto the market and you’ll be able to snatch it up!

I’m so sorry! we’re house hunting too and dealing with a PITA broker for the seller and I don’t wish this process on anyone! I’m sure something better will come, everyone keeps telling us that they were “sure” the 5 offers they had fall through were “the right houses” but in the end LOVE their place.

Ugh that sucks! Our home buying process was stressful as well, though no one pulled out on our offer. We looked for about 3 months – the market in Boston is crazy – the “good stuff” stays on the market for a week! So we felt like nutty people racing around to look at places, making offers, not getting responses, etc. With the place we bought, we got into a 3-way bidding war and everyone bid over asking price….we were in a week-long bidding war and it was a tad stressful (just a few months before the wedding and trying to juggle both). I cried at work 3 times that week in my office, lol.
I think the best advice I can give you is to try not to get too attached to any place until you’ve got the signed contract! It’s a long process but you will find the place that is right for you. Everything happens for a reason!

That is terrible! House hunting has been very very stressful and disappointing for us as well. Twice we put in offers on houses and had our offer rejected. The worst part was that both times we had the higher offer, but the other buyers were buying the house in cash. The first time it happened we were like – wait, people do that?? Then the second time we were just devastated because it happened twice in a row the same way! We were like… why do all of these people have so much cash laying around??? We recently just had our offer accepted on a different house though and are waiting on being able to schedule the inspection and stuff but even though we finally had something accepted I am still nervous that something is going to go wrong… Until we actually close, I think I’ll be a wreck.

🙁 That totally stinks! I can’t even imagine how sad you are… it was going to be your home! But you know what? I bet it had termites. Yeah. And bedbugs. And a ghost or two. Or six. No one wants to live with six ghosts unless they’re the kind that do housework.
