I went suit shopping with FI before he decided he was going to wear his uniform however we still need to dress some of the grooms party and Fi wants a suit for the reception. though when we went to Moss Bros first we found the lady to be a bit over the top she wouldn’t listen to what FI wanted and wanted him to hire what she wanted. However she was pleasant I just thought she was pushing packages and really trying to much to get us to hire from them. They also didn’t stock enough sizes to try an entire outfit on! FI nephew used them for his prom and the suit was ok but apparently he was made to wait ages when he had a fitting appointment and a prom isnt your wedding so I would want more than ok. I read the reviews online after we went and they are all bad, have you tried Slaters they have better choice and reviews also my sister is getting married before me and she has people all over the Uk as ushers and they have used 1860 suit hire at greenwoods. On the plus Moss Bros was better service in the shop than somewhere like Denenhams they are just a no go. Have a look at the other places and see where the stores are and if it is a little drive away for the best man to get a nice suit then it may be worth it.

My FI has hired 11 suits from them and we’ve had no problems at all. That said, we went into the big Regent Street branch and the salespeople there are brilliant. I’ve not got a lot of experience with other stores. My FI has had no complaints about the fit/quality. Try going into a store, spekaing to them about your concerns and talking through the options. We went on a quiet day and had a good sales assistant who was happy to help for the hour we were there, so maybe that’s what makes the difference.

We thought about it, but FI just needs waistcoats and cravats…I don’t think they hire just those …anyone know?

@MrsSancerre:  At that point, shouldn’t you just have bought a morning coat?

No experience with them sorry. We used Coes (based in East Anglia few shops in different places) and they have been really good. Can hire the full suit, shoes, shirt, waistcoat cravat etc. or just seperate items.

We’re going to hire from Slaters menswear. They have some nice options, good price and my friend’s groom got his suit there and it was very nice. They are even getting it all arranged two days before the wedding, as that is the soonest all the groomsmen and us will arrive in the country.

@Duncan:  The men are all wearing morning coats- but we’re paying for the ushers, fathers and best man too. We actually got a discount for such a large order and it worked out roughly the same price as my FI’s preferred morning dress (he has expensive taste!) It was more important to him to pay for the others than buy a suit for himself, for the same price.

On a side note, am I the only person ever to have not heard of Slaters?

@Duncan:  He genuinely may have done if I hadn’t filled out the paperwork…
