I would search on google for wedding packages at hair and beauty in your area. I’m lucky enough to work at a local college and I’m going to ask the students to do my wedding hair and make up. If you’ve got a small budget using trainee’s are a brilliant idea, hope this helps.

hey hun,

im a uk bride to (bring on december 27th whoop whoop)

my hair and make up is costing me £225.00 in total. that includes both a makeup and hair trial the month before and then the day of the wedding itself.

i wasnt sure on how much this would cost but i loved my artists work so i based my budget on that. sorry if thats not very helpful :S but when i was shopping around most prices seemed between 175 -250 for a decent artist

@DansGirl:  yup, 2nd these prices.

For my BMs to have their make-up done, it’s £40 each. Mine is £135, but that also includes a trial.

Haven’t looked into hair as not getting mine done! (dreadlocks)

I’m a Scottish bride and most of the quotes I’ve had are around £40 – £50 per person on the day and the same again for trials. That’s just for make up, hair is about the same on top. For myself, my MOH and my mother to have our hair and make up done, with a trial for me, I’m looking at about £300-£350.

I was quoted about £200 + for myself and BMs.

I think a lot of it depends on where you are based too and also the time of year. I am in Surrey and they are all so expensive near me, plus I am getting married in peak season in July!

I am paying 650 GBP for myself and for my 3 BMs to get hair and make up! Its around 3 hours for you and and an hour per BM just to give yourselves enough time. They may need to have an assistant with them for more than 3 of you. Trials tend to be between 50-100GBP.

I had an awful trial with someone who charged a lot less, so i went for the higher end after that to make sure I would be happy with it.
I am very good at my own hair and make up so i probably had quite high expectations! I would probably budget around 100GBP per bridesmaid and 200GBP for you and your trial, to be realistic. But as i said often the price depends on where you live and the time of year you are getting married. Love your looks by the way, similar to what i have chosen too!

I have been looking around too. I was given a recommendation for a hair stylist but when I first met her at a wedding show I found her a little rude and now I can’t contact her as she won’t answer the phone! She is £150 for hair including a trial, bridesmaids would be £25 each. Make up I was told I could use the spa at the hotel we are having the reception at and trial is £35 along I think with on the day being £35. Not bad but cheap always worried me. Then I get a quote from a hair and makeup lady but including trials just for myself would be £340 then bridesmaids would pay £110 for makeup and hair. Is that way to much? I have a trial booked for makeup at the hotel just to see but don’t want to be wasting money. I don’t know what to do, and I’m not paying for bridesmaids to have hair and makeup only paying for my mum and there is a huge reason for that but not for this thread.

ive been quoted £100 for my make up (£30 trial and £70 on the day – including false eyelashes) and i think she does £20 per BM (no trial)

i am using my usual hairdresser to do my hair – there is NO WAY i would let anyone other that her touch my do – ESPECIALLY on my big day! LOL!!! but i have bugeted £100 for that too (inc trial)

figure my BMs can do their own makeup and hair – letting them choose how to wear their hair but giving them a feathered clip to wear in it.

hope that helps.x

We’re paying £350 for my hair and make-up, with a trial, and £150 for my mum’;s (without a trial). Bridesmaids would cost £65 for make-up, and £65 for hair (no trial), however, ours are doing their own.

What we’re paying is probably top-whack though, and we’re in an expensive part of the country (South East). However, most places near us charged around £200 for bridal hair and make-up, with a trial, and £80 for bridesmaids hair and make-up with a trial; so, still not cheap. We chose to pay more as I’ve seen this lady’s work and it’s really excellent, and was exactly what I wanted in that it gives a flawless look that photographs perfectly, but you don’t look as though you’re wearing make-up.

@M Starr:  That’s almost exactly what my break down is as well. I think we’re right around 600 GBP for myself, 3 BM’s and my mom. It’s one woman, who is coming to the hotel. She said to estimate an hour per person.

Good idea. I would concentrate on making sure that you get someone that you like for yourself as a priority and then maybe see if one of your bridesmaids is really good at hair or make up and could do the others for you? Then you could just pay for hair OR make up?

I did all the other bridesmaids hair and make up for my friends wedding as she couldn’t afford to have ours done.

Prices vary so just scan through their photo’s. One thing i will say is if its a company rather than a person, make sure that you check the photo’s you have seen on the website relate to the person who will be actually doing your hair and make up!

@RECrerar:  I’m getting married in Reading, Berkshire, and we’re using the following MUA:

As I said we’re not having our bridesmaid’s hair and make-up done as a) it would be very expensive b) all the girls are great at doing their own, and we don’t want a uniform look for them and c) 3 of them would be very unhappy with having someone else doing their hair and make-up: two of them are control-freaks and the other is an ex-model, and said that she prefers doing her own as she knows her skin better than any make-up artist she’s had does.

The main reason I’m having mine does is that I want it to last, and photograph well, and feel I’d get stressed doing my own eg if it went wrong; I always find that whenever I’m under pressure, I mess up, and the last thing I want is to be taking it off an re-applying as my skin is sensitive and gets blotchy easily.

i generally find this is the average in the area so you would be looking at paying these prices give or take £10 or so.

I charge £80 for Bride Trial hair and makeup and £130 on the day for Bride hair and makeup. I charge £10 for your choice of strip lashes application and £15 added extra for air brush (on recommendation ) I dont often use it but normaly recommend at trial if I feel it is needed.

3 other Hair and makeup artists i also often team up with charge the same as me. You do get the odd few that are cheaper and also the odd few that have done more magazine / TV work and feel they can charge alot more. Take take and look through galleries to get a feel of each Artists style and see if you feel they would suit you.

I live near Warfield. i dont know where you live but as said prior this can make costs vary alot!
