I had an appointment yesterday to have an anatomy level 2 scan done. Since I’m high risk my OB didn’t feel comfortable doing the detailed scan and sent for a referral for me to have one done January 3rd out of town.
the tech still did a quick anatomy scan since I was already there and says she’s pretty sure it’s a girl. I’m 18 weeks so she said it could be until 24 weeks before testicles or something form in some cases but she was pretty sure it was a girl. I’m 18 weeks now.
every person we know, including myself, were all sure it would be a boy. Boys are more dominant in both families and we already have one girl so I’m a bit skeptical. January third we will know for sure but I just wanted opinions from others. Does this look like a girl or boy to you? It looks swollen like something is there but if you look closely you can kind of see the three lines. What do you think?

@Mrslovebug: It’s not clear enough for me to tell.
I’m kind of surprised that at 18 weeks a tech couldn’t tell you, though I guess that looks like it was an older u/s machine in the doc’s office (originally I thought you said this was at your level II they couldn’t tell you!). I had an elective done at 16w and it was very obvious she was a girl. This was confirmed at my anatomy scan at 19w.
Also, the 3 lines doesn’t always necessary mean girl!

I dont see a penis so I would say it’s a girl. They should be able to tell pretty clearly at this time. I had my u/s at 17 weeks and it was extremely clear that it was a boy.

I’d guess girl too because boys are usually fairly obvious. But it’s not a very good angle. Did you see anything else why she was looking around that she maybe didn’t print out?
I had a obvious girl at 15 w+6 but they wouldn’t confirm it 100% and it was confirmed at my 20 w one.
Boys are super dominant in my DHs family, but in the end it’s 50/50 each time!

Yea looks like a girl to me too but im no ultrasound tech. You should post this pic on the babycenter boards. There is an ultrasound tech on there who will look at the pic and let you know 🙂 I totally wasnt convinced my boy was a boy and when I showed the pic to her she was 100%..and sure enough it is!

@Mrslovebug: Definitely girl! This is what my anatomy scan pic looked like of my little girl’s bits:

Oh, and it only matters what is dominant on the father’s side since he give the extra chromosome either male or female. On my db side, they make mostly boys so everyone was surprised (except me) when it turned out to be a girl, so it does happen!

@Mrslovebug: just because ‘boys are dominant in your family’ or you ‘already have a girl’ has absolutely 0 bearing on what gender you have with this pregnancy. sex genes are 100% random, and you have a 50/50 chance every pregnancy, regardless of family history or previous pregnancies.
that aside, i think it looks like a girl!

@TwoStatesBride: +1. There is always a 50/50 shot when it comes to gender.

@Mrslovebug: I don’t even know what is what in that u/s lol I’m so bad at seeing the baby parts

Your husband determines sex. The woman has absolutely no say in what the sex of the baby will be, so what runs in your family does not matter at all.
I am no ultrasound tech, but I think it’s a girl. My godson’s scan was a bit similar to yours and it was blaringly apparent that he was a boy.

I’m sure it’s a girl, there is no weener. This is what both our sons looked like.

Looks 100% like my little girls ultrasound picture. That is a girl for sure.
