Welcome, CHK! I started reading Weddingbee a year ago this month -- and got hooked! There is so much great inspiration to be found here. ![]()
Hi CHK,
I myself am not from Montana, but my husband is! He's from Valier, MT near Glacier National Park on the East side of the mountains. I have been there a couple of times and abosolutely love it! I am sure your wedding will be beautiful!
Happy planning!
Hi, CHK!
I just moved to California in July, but before that I lived in Helena for four years. And I still miss it! There might not be a ton of Montana brides on here, but there is a Montana blogger: Married in Montana, I think. Anyway, she had a beautiful wedding, and might give you a little inspiration. Plus, you're in such a beautiful area. I mean, who can beat the view?!
Good luck, and keep us posted on your plans!
Welcome! I've been on about two months and I'm totally addicted!
Actually, Mrs. Cherry Pie's entry's are what lead me to Weddingbee. I googled "Montana Wedding Blogs" and ended up here! Serendipitous! Hers was gorgeous, and her wedding planner is actually based out of Bozeman and has a great reputation. I might giver her a call for a consult once we actually get to that point... We are hoping people roll a trip to Bozeman for a wedding into a Yellowstone trip...
Hey--there's other Montana girls on here!
I was born and raised in Billings, went to college in Bozeman, and have lived in Seattle for the last four years. We're getting married on August 28, 2010 in Billings. I'll be sure to keep this board updated as we move along in planning.
i actually just found weddingbee from googling montana wedding favors - and mrs cherrypie came up. i'm getting married in july (in 101 days to be exact) in red lodge montana. i live in delaware... and have planned the whole thing from a distance :) based on recommendations from fiance's family - since i had only been to montana once before in my life (and wasn't thinking about potential wedding plans at the time!)
I found weddingbee from many evenings of googling "Montana Weddings". So glad there are some brides on here now from Montana. I am getting married this August in Hamilton, MT...at the Daly Mansion. I am from Hamilton, went to the University of Montana...my fiance is from Spokane, WA. There are soooo many great wedding places in Montana!
i'm from MT as well! my family lives in red lodge, but i live in nebraska now. we're getting married in 36 days in big sky! getting down to the wire!
Welcome CHK! I lurked for a couple moths but once I got addicted I had to create a log-in and comment :)
I was raised in Eastern Montana. Went to college in Wyoming. I live both in Forsyth Montana and San Diego California. The reason for this is my husband to be is stationed down there but both of our families are from the Forsyth-Rosebud area. I really love this website and found it by a friend of mine who got married in new jeresy. I love this site. I am actually suprised that there are ppl from montana on here.
Granted i will be 22 and he will 23, we are trying to plan this wedding very simple and traditional. I am finding a few problems with the small town wedding. On top of that my husband to be is going on deployment in a week till January 2010, so i get to make most of the arrangements. That and we have to come to terms with the idea that we might have to push back the wedding if they extend his deployment. He will be getting married in his dress blues, which are very handsome colors but hard to match with flowers and bridesmaids dresses. I am trying to figure out a way to do the red white and blue theme without going overly patriotic. That and finding away to please everyone. I know that this is my wedding, but when ppl ask me "What do you want" all i can do is look at them. Im not the first of my friends to get married but most of them do not live in eastern montana (100 miles east of Billings). So it is hard to get advice on how to plan this and get everything arranged. I am lucky however that my soon to be mother in law and great friend is going to make the dresses

Hey there, my fellow eastern Montanan! I just moved to Miles City, but getting married in Makoshika State Park (near Glendive). So nice to see a neighbor on here! Not sure how much help I can be, but I can tell you what we're doing (vendors, decor, etc.)
P.S. You should almost get married at the Forsyth courthouse just because it's such a landmark! :)
Spent my honeymoon in Montana at GNP! We have an eye on a job in Polson. It's so beautiful around Flathead Lake... and my family lives in Hamilton. We drove up 93 and down 15, so got to see a lot of Western Montana that I hadn't seen before.
I heart Montana big-time!
I would love to move to montana. That and wyoming we have our eyes on for cattle ranch jobs. We live in western nebraska now and I miss the more mountainy areas for sure.
Oh how I wish that I lived in Bozeman!!! With your target and cost plus and costco and ro sham bow (my favorite Bozeman store)! I live in Dillon but I make the trek up to Bozeman fairly often when I need cheese and tomatoes in bulk. We should plan a Montana meet up in the Bozeman area, I am so excited there is someone with in driving distance that is also wedding planning! Please forgive my over abundance of exclamation marks in this post.
@Ms. Cityslicker: I would LOVE to attend a Western Montana WeddingBee get-together! I felt kind of isolated (in wedding blog land, at least) while I was planning my wedding, and I'd love to connect with other brides!
I was born and raised in Kalispell (northwest Montana) and went to Montana State in Bozeman. I now live in Seattle but my heart is completely in Montana. We will be getting married at Ashley Lake outside of Kalispell in the summer of 2010. I'm so glad there are at least a few Montana brides on here!
@seattlemeetsmontana: Ashley Lake is, without a doubt, my favorite lake in Western Montana to visit. I'm sure your wedding with be gorgeous!

Well, I finally decided to bite the bullet and log into Weddingbee after about 6 months of stalking it online. It looks like there are three of us Montanans on here? I'm in Bozeman, and will be getting engaged this summer and married in the summer of 2010. Luckily, I have four friends getting married here this year, so I get to learn from their successes and mistakes!
We have two stipulations for a wedding venue. On the water somewhere and outside. Knowing that its in Montana... well, the outside thing could get tricky.
Anyway, I'm here for a Bozeman-Livingston-Madison Valley referance!
