So many other cities seem to be doing it - what about the 'Burgh? Would anyone be interested? Should I organize something? Or are all of you too busy watching Pens games and bemoaning the Steelers' horrible season?
I like this idea! I am in (most likely)
I know my profile says I live in Erie, but I've only been here for a little while! I LIVE in Pittsburgh
:)
I might be in, depending on day/time. :)
I wonder if Mrs. Pineapple/Lollipop/Deviled Egg would be in??
yeah definitely! i was going to post about this too! that would be great if the Bees could join us:)
count me in!
( i know it says "chicago" but i'm living in pittsburgh currently for FI's residency )
Okay, so I'm counting 5 yes/maybes so far. I'm a big fan of the D's in Regent Square - good beer, hot dogs, pizza = yum. For a more casual weeknight, I think this could work well with a smaller group. If people would prefer a weekend, brunch at either the Square Cafe (non-alcoholic, good breakfast-type food) or Harris Grill (frozen mimosas/cosmos and typical brunch fare) would both work, but I'll need to see if Harris takes reservations. I would love to do brunch at Point Brugge, but they're pricey and don't take reservations, so we'd be waiting at least 45 minutes. Would any of these work? Any preferences or other suggestions?
Um, any of these are fine but my weeknights vary in a availability. But I just wanted to add that I LOVE Point Brugge. It's our 'special occasion' restaurant. :)
a weekend prob would work better for me.... i'm not familiar with any of those places but i guess i don't get out much :)
They all sound great though, any place with reasonable prices is good for me.
Ohhh, D's in Regent Sq---AMAZING. FI and I left Pgh two years ago and still think about those hot dogs...lol. We're getting married in Pgh, but dont live there anymore :( Too bad cause this sounds fun.
Mrs. Pineapple, Lollipop & Deviled Egg you out there? would you be able/want to join us?
Oooh I missed this post! I'd be in for a meetup, I was wondering if anyone would do one in the Burgh... there seems to be quite a few of us on here!
So, it looks like the general consensus is that weekends work better than weeknights. How about the weekend of 3/6-3/7? If people want to drink booze, the Regent Square D's would work either day, or Harris Grill on Sunday for brunch. An alcohol-free version could be done at the Square Cafe (also in Regent Square, across the street from D's).
If this weekend works for people, let me know if Saturday or Sunday is better, and once I get more solid numbers, I'll see if any of those places take reservations.
And on an unrelated note, I really hope that those of you in the 'Burgh don't have to go to work today. It's nasty out there! We spent almost two hours digging our car out yesterday to not even be able to drive it anywhere, the roads are so bad.
The weekend of 3/13 - 3/14 works best for me. I've never been to any of those places but they all sound good by me. :)
thanks @redherring for doing all the legwork. we appreciate it!! hopefully we can all settle on a day...what weekend / day works best for all you guys???
I'm in!!!! Love the Harris Grill idea. Elbow Room also has a good brunch, so does Six Penn, and Walnut Grille.
Hi bees!!!
The weekend of 3/6 & 3/7 I'm on spring break. Not totally 100% of if I'll be in town or not yet. I am still looking for BM dresses for my wedding so I may have to take a trip to Columbus.
I've put both dates on my calendar and would love to be there. And I'll be sure to do my best.
I hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes, but there is a handy website called http://whenisgood.net that helps keep track of this type of things. Sorry, I'm kinda of type A.
I've gone ahead and created an event based on the information provided above. When (if if this is used) please reply with your 'bee name', first name and then which places you prefer.
The basics of the site are below.
An easy way to find out when everyone is free for your next meeting or event.
The weekends of 3/6-3/7 or 3/13-3/14 are fine with me! Let me know which one everyone decides on...! As for where, any of those places seem fine with me.
I do enjoy Six Penn. Casbah in Shadyside has an excellent Prix Fixe brunch on Sundays too (comes with bellini, bloody mary or mimosa... mmm...)
haha @blueshoes- i'd love to go to Casbah! its a block from my apartment!
lol @ krissybee: Lucky! I love Shadyside, but it's a good 20 minute drive from my house. So many good places to eat down there.
yeah its nice! when we moved here just a year and a half ago we had no idea about the different neighborhoods and we just liked our street basically.
we had no idea shadyside had so much to offer.. like walnut street and ellsworth right around the corner. great shopping and food for sure :) we'll miss it when we move back to IL in August!
I will confess - I'm not a huge fan of Casbah. My fiance and I are pretty big food snobs, and our first experience with that restaurant was so bad that it took us over a year to try it again. However, if enough people think it's a good brunch option, I'm willing to give it a try!
Hopefully everyone is filling out MstoMrs availability poll! And my fingers are crossed that the date preferred by most Bees is one that works for me :)
Oh, if only it was the 3rd weekend in March - I'll be in Pgh visiting my parents!
I think I messed up the event thingie. Oops. Can't see the results! Either weekend works for me.
@redherring: That stinks you had a bad experience at Casbah. I've only ever had brunch there, and that was a year ago. I'd definitely be willing to try something new... I've never been to the Harris Grill; I'd love to give that place a go!
Let me know where/when everyone decides on, since I apparently can't handle the event site hehe.
Hey MstoMrs - What are the poll results looking like? Does there seem to be some sort of consensus as to what date/time works for most people?
Any updates on the meetup??
Next weekend is rolling in! Can't wait to have yummy food and talk "bee" and all things wedding with you all :D
Hi Girls- are we meeting next weekend?? I'd be happy to make some reservations :)
Hola Bees! I actually relocated from Baltimore to Pittsburgh to organize all my wedding crap at my parents house. I'd love to join if you don't mind, and I'm able to?! Is it this weekend coming up?!
yay!!! please join us cheeseburger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yep, i *think* its safe to say the meet-up will be this Saturday, March 6th. Where and what time is still undecided. ( i also couldn't see the results for the event poll site...MstoMrs, any consensus?)
• Square Cafe
• Harris Grill >>>>> my vote!
1ish maybe??
I should be around next weekend as well. What's the parking situation in Shadyside like these days? (are spots still full of snow?)
I wonder if we could reserve the 'lounge' area upstairs in Harris Grill or the big tables by the windows upstairs for brunch?
I we decide on a time/location officially we should PM Lollipop, Devil Egg and Pineapple.
Hey ladies! I wish I could join you all, but I'm going to be out of town this weekend. I hope you have a great meet-up. (It will be Pittsburgh's 1st WB one, as far as I'm aware!) Let me know if you want me to post about it on the blog to help spread the word.
