A bit of background: in addition to planning a wedding, my Fiance and I have a baby and we’re also trying to save up to buy a house in the near future. So, naturally, finances are a little tight. But it’s very important to us that we have a big, traditional wedding. A very large portion of our wedding budget (about 75%!) is going towards our reception hall, because we agree that wining and dining our guests is the most important thing to us. So, we’ve been trying to be creative with the rest of our budget, trying to save money anywhere we can.
That brings me to my dress. Of course, I’d love to have unlimited funds for my wedding dress, but that’s just not going to happen. So I started scouring the internet, trying to find something I loved. Finally I came across this dress. I loved it, but didn’t do anything about it for a couple weeks, because it wasn’t at all what I’d expected my wedding dress to be. Finally, I convinced myself that sometimes you love something unexpected, and I bought it. (And, I scored it, a brand new authentic designer dress, for $150.00.) I’ve had it for a couple months now, but I’m not sure that I love it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.
I’d like some brutally honest opinions from my fellow Bee’s (don’t worry, you won’t hurt my feelings!), to tell me if this dress looks good.
(And FYI, the pictures aren’t very flattering because I was taking them myself, and I couldn’t get the back done up all the way without assistance.)

I think its lovely. You look beautiful in it and it was such a great price! I love the fullness of the back.

I like the dress on you. That price is awesome too! Are you using the sash? I think it’s best without it.
I think you should definitely keep it (without the sash for reasons I noted in your other post).

The dress looks good on you. You got it at a really good price! What about the dress are you doubting?

I like it a lot. I think I like it better without the sash though. Its really bold up against the ivory. It looks like once you get it altered it will be a perfect fit, maybe you’ll love it again then.

Gorgeous. Just Gorgeous!
I love it on you and I love the dress!

I would most likely go with no sash, especially after lots of Bee opinions.
I guess what makes me doubt the dress the most is that it’s not what I expected myself to wear. I expected a taffeta gown with pick-ups, and lace maybe. And I didn’t expect to go with a ball gown; I’m short and my Fiance is tall, and I’ve always been under the impression that ball gowns aren’t good choices for small women.
I’ve seen so many posting on these boards with women wearing beautiful gowns, I’m not sure that I feel the same way about my own! Sometimes I do!

@Frugal–I feel the exact same way! I expected to wear a sleek, satin, gown with some sort of true couture POP to it. I ended up with a very pretty, fairly traditional A line. I like my dress, I know it looks good on me—but it’s not a love-affair. Do yourself a favor and stop looking at dress posts! lol. I think this dress is really fab. YOU look great in it, and it’s stunning. Stop doubting that…move on to other parts of your wedding planning! You got this one in the bag!

I actually think that dress is amazing on you! I would stick with it!

Stick with the dress, it looks great, but I wouldn’t wear the sash with it. It is much better without.

It’s beautiful and for the price you paid, it’s doubly beautiful! I sort of feel the same way about my dress. I got an amazing deal on it and seriously that’s what helps me love love love it. I don’t think I would if I paid full price or even half price for it. I’m just not the type of person who can justify spending thousands of dollars on a dress…even 1 thousand…and the fact that you are putting most of your budget towards your guests’ experience, makes me think that you can’t either. Knowing that I got a great deal (preownedweddingdresses.com!), makes me love my dress.
